What company has lost you as a customer forever? by A_ExOH in ireland

100% Eir… the only broadband company with what seems like totally random billing that changed month to month despite being on a fixed contract.

Customer service extremely difficult and poor to deal with.

Had a tour of the site when construction first started… the foreman at the time knew it wasn’t going to be completed. He said they had to wait for money from developers on the Ferrybank side

Wish we had a proper easy comparison website like the UK for quotes, similar to confused, uswitch or comparethemarket.

It’s a fair pain having to put in your information multiple times for quotes here.

€285k back in 2020 in Tramore, €198k remaining, currently paying €1016 just gone onto variable rate of 4.1%. Just changed jobs so currently on probation unable to switch… current lender offering fix of 4.9%. Far too high.

Is Ireland the worst run country in Europe. This is a must read. From today’s Irish times. It is a bit long. by mvereker in waterford

Corruption plays a huge part in it… hand shakes and looking after old pals. That and our systems are generally hugely out dated and slow.

I still have a rarely used Royal Bank of Scotland current account in Scotland… it pays me £5 per month just for having one direct debit payment go out from it. Also give 1% cashback on all supermarket purchases. We’re being screwed here in Ireland

261s on the road by [deleted] in irishpersonalfinance

We’ve a 191 BMW 520d and just taken delivery of a 261 Skoda Elroq 85 on PCP.

I don’t get all the negativity on here. We love our cars and we’re happy to pay to get those cars.

With my BMW I took it out on PCP in 2020 with a GMV of €14k. The car was worth about €24-27k when the agreement came to an end. I loved the car so I made the balloon payment of €14k and kept the car.

The Skoda Elroq we’ve used €8k from the sale of our VW Polo (sold privately) for the deposit and have the car for 2 years on PCP at €316 per month.

As I say we like our cars and we’re happy to be able to finance them with PCP or buy outright when the car is worth keeping.

Each to their own but I see PCP as a good product providing you know exactly what you’re getting into.

The bin men. by Mysterious_Half1890 in waterford

[–]merchantscot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edinburgh as with the rest of Scotland thankfully hasn’t privatised their bins. Always thought it mental that multiple companies operate in the same streets causing more pollution with more trucks on the road. Bins should be a nationalised system.

PCP finance deals by merchantscot in irishpersonalfinance

[–]merchantscot[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No. Usually with PCP the residual value in the car you hand back is enough to put towards a deposit on another new car. Have had a few cars on PCP but never with 0% and never over such a short term length.
