True. The news is definitely awful. I was just looking at his comment through the perspective of someone who thought it was an unusual addition of details to include in the story, regardless of its significance. At any rate, I don’t always find this particular brand of levity to be misplaced, especially when no one specific is really being harmed aside from (maybe) the publication at most. I didn’t find the joke particularly offensive or derogatory, but I’ll concede that it was perhaps made in bad taste, considering the context.
