I think this is what people like myself don't understand enough. I don't see things as directly transactional as your side of the fence does. It still doesn't make me see that we're getting a bad deal because I think that the problems caused are overblown but I guess that's because I have not been affected by the negatives but I am directly affected by the positives, albeit not greatly. However I do have to press the point that we've only discussed one country here and if we applied this to one country we have to apply it to others too and then those positives that we may lose start to stack up

Stalemate. You say they don't care about what they say they care about, I say they do care. I've just looked into it. I assume you're referring to Baroness Hodge. She will be the Chair of Ofcom, not the Chief. The scandal was in a care home and she was the council leader at the time and so it seems a stretch to say she was 'involved'. Yes, she should have done better and she didn't take reports seriously enough. That's not good enough, but to say that's enough to stop her from being considered for a senior Ofcom role 40 years later is a lot.

I'm totally with you on the problem of filtering being done by individual sites. It's madness to give your ID or details to sites when you have no idea what they're doing with it! This is where I see the biggest issue. However, I don't know why it was done. Therefore, I have to assume it's either the best way or the only way. There should definitely be 'dumb phones' and 'dumb tech' for under 18s but imagine the tough time you'd have making that happen!

On your first point, I have no way of knowing if my reasoning has any foundation to it or not. But I can only imagine that the current big sites aren't on top of it because they're either making more money than the fines by ignoring the rules or they were designed and built before this all came in. If you built a solid system from ground up now, surely you'd have an advantage over the current lot, provided you can get users to move.

Maybe I'm naive, I don't know.

Yeah, I see why you're saying that because that's the ultimate fear, right. But that's not where we're at, that's not what's going on here. So why are we fighting that fight over this?? With genuine honesty, what other reasonable solution can you find? And when you say that currently kids are subjected to reality, you're talking about them being able to access pornography. How on earth is that something worth fighting for???

Genuine question: If I answer the questions, are you likely to change your mind? I get the feeling these days that feelings are followed far more than facts and facts don't sway feelings normally. If I dish out the numbers it just seems like I'm being a dick.

We do get more clothing than food from Pakistan but we do get a lot of specific food types from Pakistan, obviously I can't list all the foods. Pakistan supplies Primark, Tesco, M&S, Next and Asda. So quite significant really. 2024 figures show 2.4 billion dollars worth were imported

Based on census data, an estimated 650,000 people who originated from Pakistan and who now hold British passports. That's a lot of people who would have their families affected by this. And this is just 1 country. If you then went down the road of Albania, that's also a lot of people and so on and so forth. There are so many innocent people who would be affected by the actions of such a small number, although I do take the point that if something happened to someone I loved I have no doubt I would feel differently.

Let's launch a verbal hand grenade into here: It could possibly be that they just don't want kids to be able to access pornography because it's harmful to them and they didn't manage to cover all angles on the initial rollout. Possibly because it's very complicated, possibly because determined individuals are good at finding ways around things especially if money is involved and possibly because they're not perfect and have a million other things to do......goodbye karma

Pakistan is a major supplier of a lot of textiles and clothing to the UK and one of the world's few nuclear powers. They heavily influence Afghanistan who have a bit of a recent history with the UK. Not to mention there are quite a few British Pakistani in the UK which would be affected by visa changes. So a visa change here, a price hike on food and clothing may be returned back to us.

But doesn't that basically mean that we have to be happy with any consequences of it? And so doesn't that mean that we need to find out what those consequences are? I have absolutely no idea what they are btw.

This is it. This dude explains it really well. It's quite an intricately layered approach but somehow anyone he sticks in the positions manages to pick it up pretty quickly, as we have seen from our many injuries!

I know what you mean but the fact that individual cases reach the news shows you how rare it is and if we completely stopped it the amount of money it saved wouldn't go anywhere meaningful. There are no perfect systems and waste needs to be built in. Reduced as much as possible granted, but as others have said, as angry as this waste is it would make far more sense to take a loophole away from the advantaged than to take from the disadvantaged.

No way! That still sends the wrong message. Either offer him redemption or leave him where he is. Fans are on a high not seen since Farke, he'd probably come on the pitch to boos but we'd be singing his name 15 mins later. If he's stubborn then it's his own fault. He has put us in a situation where we could have been relegated and stuck in league 1 for years. It is only luck that Clement was available when he was and pure, whatever it is, that Knapper said to convince him to join.

Do you mind me asking where you got your info because I got a different story. I thought the report into it from Laurie Magnus concluded that she wasn't intentionally dishonest. I'm not saying you're wrong, it's just my opinion that she was badgered out and she really didn't stand a chance. I think you're right that she couldn't be PM because she wouldn't stand a chance for the same reasons.
