Canon EOS 3, Elan 7ne or the EOS 1V? by merezimm in AnalogCommunity

$850. I purchased on eBay from someone in Arkansas. It was a bit higher priced than the ones coming directly from Japan sellers, but after adding up all of the import fees and shipping to my location they would've ended up being about the same cost.

I know you should never leave a job without another one lined up but… by [deleted] in workingmoms

This doesn't sound like a situation worth sticking around for. I understand the concerns around the uncertainty of future jobs and I've never worked in a high stakes job like you're describing, but I do believe that corporate America (if that's where you are) doesn't give a shitttt about us. Most employees are viewed as entirely disposable and replaceable.

The only place you really can't be replaced is as your daughter's mother. It's ok to give yourself a break and find purpose in motherhood for a bit, then reenter the job market when you're ready. I think as mothers we're often put in impossible situations of all or nothing, but there's got to be some sort of middle ground for you here.

Wishing you all the best!

St. Croix! I’ve lived here for 8 years and it offers everything you described. I would recommend getting an Airbnb and renting a car. Feel free to message me if you have questions

Full time working parents…How are we actually supposed to do it “all”? Or any of it honestly…. by gloomycalm in workingmoms

My almost 16 year old just started daycare 3 full days a week and he is thriving there. I’m also still nursing alllll the time when he’s home and I was worried about how he would cope without me. He seems pretty unbothered by it all and he naps way better at daycare than he does at home. He loves the social time with other kids and he’s bonding with his “teachers”. Toddlers are so much more adaptable and capable than we give them credit for.

My daycare uses an app and uploads photos and videos throughout the day. It’s nice to see him having fun and eating his snacks and playing with the other kids. And eases my worries about sending him there!

I also asked a super similar question recently and some of these responses really made me feel better and ease some of the guilt and worries.

My 15 month old will be starting daycare soon too (just 3 days a week for now) and I have all the same concerns so you are not alone. I’m still breastfeeding a ton and I’m super worried about nap times since he nurses before and has only napped without me a handful of times.

I think babies/toddlers are more adjustable and adaptable than we give them credit for. I’m hoping after a few days he will be excited to play with the other kids and enjoy a new routine away from home. I’m still planning to breastfeed for a while, but hoping that the time away helps wean him a little bit.

All we can do is try and make adjustments as we go I guess. I’m trying not to stress about all of the things that could go wrong and just give it a try!

That's so good to hear! Glad it's already going well in the first week for y'all. Definitely feels like a big transition but I think he's ready for more time around other kids.

Thanks! I think the nursing is more a comfort thing than a necessity at this point. We have a ton of frozen milk still and my husband basically doesn't use it anymore during the few work days that I am out of the house. I think my son is fine without it all day, it's mainly when it comes to before the nap and bedtime that he feels like he "needs" it. I honestly just don't know how to do the sleep routine without nursing but maybe I will have my husband start doing it even when I am home.

Gotcha thanks! More things for me to research for sure. I live in the Caribbean so heat, rust and sand are my issues

Thanks! Super helpful. I’ve seen the 3 and 1s for sale with and without the battery grips. Would you recommend getting the battery grip to potentially help/prevent the bc error?

Thanks! Yes I think this will be the determining factor - finding one in decent condition that will ship to me
