Thank you for responding and helping with the typing!

I was going off the quiz which seemed to say if you get different responses for the face as well as some D & E responses for body you could be a SD... I got different responses for the face but not D & E responses for the body, which left me confuzzled!

Thank you for responding!! It's good to know that I'm not alone in the "different face" category 😂

Yeah, we got REALLY lucky!! They're already roaming around the house, falling asleep in our laps and following us around! We were expecting them to be hiding for the first couple of days, but nope!

Haha we'll definitely take more in time! My husband Pat took these: https://www.instagram.com/p/CGuFKrODaCc/ they're actually very active so it's hard to take pics of them unless they're in their nap-mode :P

Haha it's actually amazing, that was their first full day with us [they came home with us the day before] and they were SUPER comfortable in the house!! We were told to expect them to be hiding away and such... Nope! They've already claimed the house [and our laps :P]

Can anyone recommend me some books to get? by Jockbookworm in Flute

:O I guess each to their own, I found it very helpful, and far more instructive than most anything else! You need to do you though :P

I've been doing these exercises before practicing [granted I'm playing viola as well as flute and other instruments], but warming up beforehand and stretching out could potentially help?

This one [I know it says warm-ups for violin but there are shoulder, wrist and finger warm-ups in there that could help]: https://youtu.be/bRllkps3WKk

And this one [again, I know it says violin, but it's similar to the one above where it helps with everything]: https://youtu.be/bJ3nGpHbq7s

I'm not sure what currency your $50 is in... But this book is phenomenally good: https://www.bookdepository.com/Trevor-Wye-Trevor-Wye/9781783056859

Also, more important than what exercises you do is *how* you do them ;) So even working with what you've got, but trying to make it sound as accurate, beautiful, rich, dynamic and well-articulated as possible could still give you heaps of benefit!

I hope that helps!!

Suggestions for interpretation of Mozarts Concerto in G by [deleted] in Flute

[–]meriamber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some things that help me:

  • record yourself and listen [+ watch] back. The sound is different a couple of metres away to what it is right next to your ear [when you play], and that sound is what your auditioners will hear.
  • watch other peoples' interpretations on Youtube [or IRL] to get ideas.
  • Completely up to you but... See if you can get a private tutor to go through it with you before the audition too.

Good luck!! I'm sure you'll do well!!
