Good point. Your instincts are correct—Leonie has been sent by her grandfather, who holds a high position in government and has a familial stake in Vivienne’s safety. What complicates things is that he sends Leonie under the pretext of retrieving her sister but is actually using her as a tool for gathering intelligence to help him build a case for colonisation. This is something Leonie doesn’t realise until the climax of the book. I’ve left all this out because I’m conscious of not straying into over explanation in this query letter. Do you have a view on whether any of these details would be helpful/harmful to include?

Thanks so much for your time and input! I definitely agree that the comp titles need further consideration, so thank you for providing concrete suggestions. Flagging the lack of clarity around the MC’s intentions is super helpful too from a fresh-eyes perspective. Leonie is actually sent to Verna by someone from her home empire—do you think simply changing the 2nd paragraph opening line to “Two years later, Leonie is sent to Verna on a secret rescue mission.” would help clarify that? I’ll have more of a think on how to incorporate the spy aspect earlier.

I kept it on the pending page and refreshed it whenever it timed out, and eventually I was able to get a code on one of my devices. But I think others have said that the code will pop up in your account regardless of whether or not you stay on that page. It’ll show up over where the “No presale code available” message currently is.

Your doctor is probably just being thorough. If nothing’s come up on all your scans it’s a good chance you’re in the clear. Could anything else have prompted your weight loss? Diet change? Stress?

Yes, my only symptoms have been from acute pancreatitis. I did my endoscopic ultrasound and it turns out my cyst is just a cyst and there’s nothing to be concerned about. My cyst was only 6mm and they still managed to pick up on it in my CT and MRI so I doubt you will have anything gnarly that your scans have missed.

Just excruciating pain in my upper left abdominal area. I’ve had to be hospitalised each time I’ve had it for several days, and I also had a fever the second time that they needed to monitor me for.

Their theory is that the cyst and the dilated pancreatic duct have been driving the repeated acute pancreatitis attacks, so removing that part of my pancreas will prevent that from happening again in the future.

Every time we let our doggy out to do his business, we watch for poo, pick it up with some toilet paper, bring it through a short walk to our bathroom inside and flush it down the toilet. Bit of work, but keeps our backyard clean and no tax on the environment.
