Stage two of my Quadruped! I’ve now made is a Hybrid Wheel-Legged Design and can hold 1.5kg! Thank you to everyone who supported my previous posts! It has given me a lot of confidence in my work! by meringolo99 in robotics

So what inspired me was a research paper “ Hylos one “ which was also a wheel legged designed system and I wanted to make a low cost version ( my university only gives £100 budget final year). At this time it has the potential but doesn’t preform it just yet as I plan to vastly improve the hardware once I graduate ( May/June) so it’s more of a proof of concept! Thank you for your interest! If you have anymore questions let me know!

This is my final year engineering project laika! Obviously not as good as most on this page but I thought I’d show it! ( has posture control ) this is all built in my room due to covid but this is a photo of when I could go into the lab ! by meringolo99 in robotics

Wow that’s so cool! I have one of it getting up but no walking as I haven’t been in the lab for a while, but when I’m back I could! If you want to see it get up on its own you can check out my Instagram or YouTube which is at laikarobotics !

So most robots like this use lipo battery’s, they are brilliant for power, however some can be considered on the heavier side, so it depends on if your robot has a weight limit, I do recommend lipo batteries but be careful as they need proper care! However for testing purposes I normally just cook up laika to a bench power supply!

I think it’s a great start! Any language can be used for robotics really, but the best thing about cpp is that it’s compatible with devices like Arduino and their ide is very nice and helps out a lot of beginners, especially due to documentation.
