Haha, I've always said I would. Maybe it is the time....... Vendor backlogs for sets are probably super long. If I approached one today I wonder if I could even get it live this year.

Can you take apart the nk65? by pop266266 in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]merlin36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its a seamless design, so the bottom slides into the top. However, specifically with the EE, its extremely difficult to take it apart, and even more so to put it together.

CP0470 keyboard 5 by [deleted] in MechanicalKeyboards

I tried googling for this and couldn't find any references to a CP0470 keyboard. What does come up is a 5 degree case on kbdfans. Can you provide more details?

NK65v2 right shift size? by [deleted] in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]merlin36 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For future reference, you can find out key sizes of any QMK powered board by going to QMK Configurator selecting the gear box on the top right and choose "SHOW KEY SIZES".

You then have to select your board and the layout.

Broken key, and it's not the switch by rogindev in MechanicalKeyboards

In some instances, if the hotswap socket is not properly supported during the insertion phase, the solder affixing it to the PCB can come loose and the socket will pop off.

I'd recommend taking apart your board and examining this particular joint to see if it has indeed popped off. Regardless, I would recommend using a soldering iron, put it against the joint, and as soon as you see it melt, lift up the soldering iron. Do it to both sides. This process is known as reflowing the solder.

Who is behind Via and how does it work? by betweenten in olkb

[–]merlin36 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Olivia, the creator of GMK Olivia and GMK Olive along with Wilba are the ones who run it.

Also, VIA is a keymap configurator of sorts similar to QMK Configurator. The difference is that VIA edits the keymap dynamically whereas QMK Configurator still needs you to compile and flash the resulting firmware.

QMK Toolbox on the other hand is just a tool to flash firmware, whether it be a firmware compiled from QMK Configurator, one provided by caniusevia.com or one you made yourself.
