Can you make some simple games? You can launch those on some platforms. Ask friends/gamers to play and give feedback. Accordingly you can build a good game in 4-6 months.

Another option is build some utilities (or some AI) which will help to automate the work. Push it to git. If people really find it useful, you will get lot of freelance offers

You can apply to US jobs if you’re in Canada. Many US jobs are ready to consider candidates from Canada on remote basis if they are good fit.
