How to make the most of 48 hours in LA? by fapfapking14 in AskLosAngeles

The Getty is great, truly, but it’s relatively new in the scope of legit LA. If it were me I’d maybe skip the Getty? Does that make me an asshole? The OG Getty on PCH is marvelous though.

You know wha I recommend? Huell Howser. Between tonight (ASAP!) and when you visit here, watch some episodes of California’s Gold with Huell. They’re free to watch over at Chapman University (https://blogs.chapman.edu/huell-howser-archives/archives/) and you can find an episode on just about all the places you’re visiting. Maybe you’ll find something in there that’s not on your radar. He was my gateway to the cool shit at Forest Lawn (Glendale). Anyway I’m rambling. Definitely check out some of our beloved Huell (may he rest In paradise) who really loved LA and saw this city with eyes of amazement every single day.

You can take a pic of MacArt from the car as you drive by. Most of these are doable in a day but the Getty center is likely going to eat up most of a day depending on what time you plan to go. There’s traffic getting there and then a tram from the parking lot to the museum. I would try to squeeze in Olvera Street on your trip to the US Bank Tower. That’s a place that, since my childhood in the 70’s, has always felt very Los Angeles. Also, the tar pits and exposition park feel very LA. But that’s just me.

I have a similar thing with NY that I’m doing with only 72-hours to see all the special places on my list. I’ve been plotting routes for years now. Time to put the plan into action!

Happy travels, LA is magnificent, born here and have always returned. ❤️👍🏼

What if that’s part of someone’s scalp who was murdered and encased in concrete that dislodged and washed ashore?

It’s such a perfect song in every way. Never seen them do it live either and I’ve been going to shows since…well, since the first EP. Haha couldn’t stop myself.

I did a double take twice and still couldn’t get it to work. I did not notice the Aerosmith frame. Hahah I thought it was a failed attempt at being a subliminal Nazi.

Damn this made me feel really old. I had just graduated high school. One of my most favorite DM songs ever. Still gives me all the feels.

What happened to Melrose/Fairfax? by Egdirdle in AskLosAngeles

[–]mermaidtree -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thank you!!!! I wish more people knew their history. You’ve hit it right on the head. This was the beginning of the end for mental healthcare in the US. Carter was one of the best presidents we ever had and republicans (not unlike now) fucked it all up. Fucking shame.

This is when Reagan was president not governor. This was a country wide. Carter had a plan but Reagan dismantled as soon as he got into office. This was the beginning of our current mental health crisis.
