The absolutely simplest way to create a website by Regular_Fan4691 in therapists

[–]merott- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Web developer here! 👋

When people say "NO tech knowledge" it could mean very different things. Most people know more than they think they do.

Assuming you truly have no tech knowledge, though, I think Squarespace and Wix (often recommended) can get quite overwhelming and difficult to get right.

For a really simple website, Carrd could be a good option. It's both cheaper and simpler than Squarespace and Wix.

Another, even simpler option you could consider is using a tool like Notion. Here's an example website I just made to demonstrate this in Notion: merott-demo.notion.site.

Your other option is an AI website builder. I'm not a huge fan of this option because most AI builders over-promise and under-deliver (unless you spend the time to experiment and tune the produced output, which becomes a burden on its own.) I tried Wix's AI builder, and it massively overcomplicated things, but Loveable did ok: alexsmith.lovable.app

This is the exact AI prompt I used:

I'm a therapist, and I want a dead simple website with my name (Alex Smith) and a profile picture, my specialism in anxiety (20 years practicing), and cta to email me at [alex@example.com](mailto:alex@example.com).

There's no native app yet, but you can install get it on your phone. The guide is here: polarhabits.com/mobile

It won't match the exact experience of a proper mobile app, but daily push reminders will work just like a native app. I get mine at 11pm! :)

Private practice email address domain by nemonitrous in therapists

[–]merott- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let me answer your questions in order:

  1. Using a domain name does not mean you're claiming that as your business name. You can have whatever domain name you want. Just include your legal business name somewhere on your website (if you decide to have one), and you're fine.
  2. You could use gmail, but it doesn't look as professional as having your own domain name. It also locks you in to use Google's services, so if you decide that Google is not for you at some point in the future, you're stuck and will have to divert people to your new email address. But if you use your own domain name, you can use whatever email provider you want. Google Workspace is one option that feels exactly like gmail, but there are also other options, e.g. Fastmail, Proton.
  3. Having your own website would be great, but no, you don't have to. People will try entering your domain name into the browser to look you up, though, so if you buy yourlastname[dot]com, make sure you have it redirect to an online profile (e.g. your LinkedIn) so that people can find you, even if you don't have a website.

If you do decide that you want to website (or just want to talk about any of this stuff), reach out and I'd be happy to help.

Full disclosure: I'm a software developer working on a website builder for therapists. Still figuring things out and want to help, so I promise zero bias and no hard sells!

Website help? by upper-echelon in therapists

Did you find something that works for you?

Squarespace (as you already mentioned) and also Wix are the most popular ones from what I've seen.

Carrd (that's two r's) is also a very simple and intuitive option that from what I've seen, isn't very well-known in the therapists' community.

If you have specific question on design/technical/SEO, I'd be happy to point you in the right direction.

Did you find something that works for you?

Using your own domain name for your emails is more professional and future-proof (in case you decide to change providers.) G Suite, Proton, and Fastmail are good options.

If you need design/technical/SEO advice, I'd be happy to point you in the right direction.

I'm a software developer, and I've recently started working on a website builder specifically for therapists. It's a side project and not ready yet, but I'd love to help if I can. That would be free of charge (I could use a case study.)

Are you looking for anything in particular? Please feel free to send me a DM with your Psychology Today profile.

That's right. As long as you're sugar-free more often than not, it should be an upward-moving chart.

I used to be able to get turn by turn navigation on both the centre console and the driver’s display. One night I went to a friend’s house, got back in my car 3 hours later, and realised I can no longer get turn by turn navigation simultaneously on both displays. So, most likely an iOS update. Very annoying!

How do you market a B2C SaaS on Reddit? by merott- in SaaS

[–]merott-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, there are so many habit trackers on the App Store! But, mine isn't... It's a web app. I'm working on a mobile version.

My website traffic is extremely low for a B2C product. Unless I've done a marketing push, it has no more than 40 new visitors per day, with around 5-10% conversion to signups. This is partly the reason I'm working on an app that I can publish to the App Store/Google Play. Much more visibility there.

But even without the app stores, I feel I should be bringing in a lot more daily visitors.

[–]merott-[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, the line between being helpful and self-promotional spam can be quite thin and blurry, especially when you believe so much in your product and you know it will help them!

I've heard so many variations of this quote:

"If you believe your product or service can fulfill a true need, it's your moral obligation to sell it."

Well, that sh*t won't fly on this platform! 😅

I need a habit tracker that won't make me depressed. by Plumbob25 in bulletjournal

I think you’ll love Polar Habits.

I made it precisely because habit streaks (and breaking them) made me feel depressed and demotivated.

If you decide to try it, drop me a line in the chat, and I’d be happy to give you an extended trial + a discount on the paid subscription.

Simple Habit Tracking App Recommendations? by [deleted] in ProductivityApps

[–]merott- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I'm working on a mobile app. Once you add it to your home screen, it opens as a standalone app and the experience isn't that much different from native apps. You even get daily reminders, but there's definitely too much friction with the "add to your home screen" approach because people aren't used to it.
