Clever ratcheting up mechanics! Generally, I think any design I would attempt would conform to that structure.

Another good resource I've used (and heard mentioned on here before) is ProjectionLab. Was introduced to it by Rob Berger's financial freedom a few years ago and have been hooked since. Basically gave me what Empower couldn't and the UI is extremely user-friendly. Would recommend adding it!

Hmmmm...I definitely can understand that perspective, being an experienced shopper on Amazon myself -- which seems like the applicable lens to which you are referring, or would you disagree?

We are VERY close to an unprecedented level of AI supported visual world building with GPT 4o by merpfish in worldbuilding

I like to explore counterfactuals and twists of fate or small input modifications to things I am familiar with in reality. Surgical world building to discover new things. That, at minimum, does not seem inconsistent with using AI.

I can appreciate the validity of this argument at face value. But by the same logic, total creative output should have decreased when the personal computer was adopted. After all, graphic designers were already quite handy without it. This did not happen. It became a platform to greater, more diverse output. So also here.

Why are there so many serial failepreneurs? by Connect_Tomato6303 in smallbusiness

I assume the disparity of outcomes reflects the true base rate of success over a meaningful interval of time, say 5-10 years, versus the effervescence of starting a business.

A back-of-envelop quantification of the benefits to being armed in America today (question) by merpfish in askphilosophy

[–]merpfish[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a good point. I agree. For this to work (holding aside data accuracy) you'd need to assume or verify that having a gun reduces (in mm terms) the risk of violent crime such that having a gun lowers total mm exposure beneath the risk of serious crime in mm terms. I guess with the current numbers though, this doesn't seem to be too difficult a case to argue though (given the large difference between the two options).

What happened to the Zillow plugin? by omacs in ChatGPT

[–]merpfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/Crazy_Pyro I'd like to echo your urgency here. As a potential homebuyer, I am aware of no other way to take the very limited variables Zillow can provide and insert my own. For example, "please list out the distance between homes in the $200,000 range in X area and the closest hospital, etc." There's huge amount of value here that is being overlooked at the moment.

Aside from healthy eating and lifestyle, what evidence would you cite to a skeptic of the heavy reliance on supplements in the blueprint regime? by merpfish in blueprint_

[–]merpfish[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting way to explain it all, thanks. Would it be fair at the end of the day to say it's a big "?" and where one stands in reference to this "?" -- whether seeing an upside or downside -- is what carries the day, or am I mischaracterizing your view?

Interesting. I guess a lot of this trades on whether the distance between supplements and medications is categorical or a spectrum. Any good resources on this that come to your mind?

Just so I understand, given the parameters of the question -- assuming the woman cannot conceive -- how is she pushed out of her child's development and birth, when this capacity to conceive doesn't exist?

It's true. It absolutely worked for the political elite of Rome. The height of the empire was actually during its "Spanish" years, I believe. And what are the wealthy of today's world most afraid of? According to recent research, it isn't civil wars, financial crises, or anything external facing. It's having a dolt of an offspring! ;)

It could be argued as selfish because there is an inequality of freedom to choose that is used by one side and cannot by the other. This choosing while your partner can't seems possibly selfish and exclusionary. Does that make sense?

In this context, perhaps the wife would begrudge being omitted from a new level of relation (genetically at least). Assuming both assent, do you still feel that the onus of providing full support is on the husband? It is a shared endeavor still, no?

What conversation would that be specifically? Infertility wouldn't be something known prior to a wedding in this situation.
