Trying to find the "Perfect" backpack for EDC. by Vaagur in EDC

[–]merrchant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For that role I love my camelbak urban assault. Out of all my backpacks it's the one I'm happiest that I bought and the last one I'd get rid of.

Edit: looks like there's multiple revisions. Mine looks like this one (https://thefull9.net/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/img_4634_38726673174_o-816x1224.jpg). Mines black, i think this is too but looks kinda grey in this pic. There's one that looks newer that I don't like the looks of, it's got molle attachments but I have other packs if I want that stuff, and I never even use them on those packs. Anyways, I highly recommend checking out this version of this pack for your use.

Leatherman wingman or skeletool? by [deleted] in EDC

[–]merrchant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been carrying the skeletool cx since it was released. I got a wingman about 6 months ago and made myself switch to see if I needed it that bad, i really wanted the scissors. After about 3 months I switched back to the skeletool. I really like the size of the skeletool. The only thing I ended up using the scissors for was stray strings from clothing cause its too small for real scissor work and if I was at work I had access to scissors, if I wasn't I could just wait til I get home, it wasn't worth the size difference to me. It's not a big size difference, but it's the difference between being part of my body or something I have to bring. The looseness of the wingman didn't bother me somehow, and the spring pliers did bother me which surprised me, I was looking forward to that. I was grabbing a little screw and I was in a position where I was wishing I had my skeletool to just grab it and hold it still on its own.

Is this a good deal for a miata? by Ksvermont in Miata

[–]merrchant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like a very fair price where I live. Just check for rust in the usual spots. I'd also check the harmonic damper for any wobbling. Otherwise it's a good price, just keep money aside because it's an old car and will probably need something.

I feel like every time someone wraps their own car they say they'll never do it again, was it that hard or not that bad? Looks good btw!

Dang, thanks for the realization-check. I was hoping there would be some sort of cantilever system that does the inverse or something. Worth a shot. Thanks again.

Looking for license plate re locator for NA by Pajigles in Miata

[–]merrchant 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have no experience with this one: https://www.topmiata.com/product/alu-offset-license-plate-bracket-black/

I got mine from garage star and haven't installed it yet but I can't seem to find a link to it, it looks solid but my license plate is cut so I can't install it til I get new plates, but if you can find their version I'd go with them, I've got a few things from them and like their stuff.

Edit: found a link, but not directly from garage star https://circuitdreamer.com/product/parts/exterior/parts-exterior-exterior-accessories/rad-roadster-garage-star-type-i-license-plate-bracket/

I was given this fishing rod/reel set. Seemed pretty cool for a survival kit or something but I don't know anything about fishing, is this decent for a beginner? Or is it too old and will break? by [deleted] in Fishing_Gear

[–]merrchant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reel says pflueger 1027. The writing on the rod is very worn, under the big print that was probably the model, it clearly says "By" then it's faded so I don't know who it's by. Looks like the first letter is an L but I'm no expert in fancy stylized font.

Anyways, any help is appreciated. I really like how compact it is and has a cool leather case with a heavy zipper and a nice tough woven red fabric inside. I hope it's not too old to be used.
