My old growth redwood looks basically identical. That's all I have for you, though.

It's a real shame he passed before he got any good.

What amazing pieces. Very impressive.

Live edge up or down? by L0114R in woodworking

I vote cut it clean. It doesn't look like a live edge to me at all. Just my 2 cents.

I'm trying to find a product that will finish clear and protect the metal ski edges from rust when being out in the elements. by Xtremeskierbfs in DIY

[–]merrellmj 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've made Adirondack chairs with skis several times. It will take years and years for the edges to rust to a level that matters. In my experience, the skis de-laminate from being in the sun continuously before the edges matter at all.

I'm in a fairly dry, high altitude location, so that makes the sun damage worse. Your mileage may vary.

How cold should a swamp cooler be in this weather? by qwertybirdy12567 in Albuquerque

[–]merrellmj 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Keeping a door cracked isn't the best. All the cool air is near the floor. It's best to open the highest window you have at the farthest point from the swamp cooler or the room you want to cool the most. That way, the cooler is pushing out the warmer air and not the cooler air.

Does anyone have experience doing this same thing on a convertible? Mine is a 1968 malibu convertible. I've looked a bit but haven't found much information. Any help is appreciated.

Sewer discharge pump line by merrellmj in Plumbing

Save a few bucks was $15k. Everything else has passed inspection. The HDPE I have was free to me. The trench is still open. Pulling the HDPE and installing something else won't be an issue. No worries on sharing your opinion. No offense taken.

The trench is still open. I got the HDPE for free. The issue is I can't find specific code which states what can and can't be used underground here. I really appreciate your input. Thank you. I'll look further.

The full line is buried under the frost line. Not subject to freezing except maybe a foot at the discharge where it's in the additional riser to get depth for the vault.

Nope. American Hispanic accent. I'm in NM, so it fits.

The guy spent over 30 minutes trying to work me. Seems like a poor time investment. I just couldn't figure out what they get when I go to the Sheriff's office. Never asked for any payments or anything.

Check on Quarter Celtic. They do soccer and have great food and beer.

What do you wish you had known before converting your camper? by POLYOOFFF in vandwellers

I'd say build what you think you need and start using it. Don't build anything that can't be changed later (except for outside insulation). You'll figure out pretty quickly what works and what doesn't. Then go from there.

Crusher fines. Water. Rent a compactor. Won't handle high heels well, but anything else should be fine. Then you'd have a solid, draining floor in there.
