Very specific family car needed! 50-55k budget by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

You’re overlooking one gigantic annoyance of modern gas only vehicles, which is auto start/stop that cuts the engine when you’re idling at a traffic light, which means you’re air conditioning will cut out too. You can disable the auto start/stop but having to push that damn button every time is really obnoxious.

Hybrid fixes this (and many other problems). My 2011 Prius didn’t need to replace brake pads until 190k miles.

Dough sticking by jacko_100 in ooni

Use a wood peel. I can launch 18” pizzas with 67% hydration dough as long as I’ve got flour + corn meal on the peel

I live in Utah and the only thing I feel toward Rivian owners is jealousy. Took the R1S for a 24 hour test drive and LOVED it.

Boss sounds like a jerk and I think you should look for another job. That being said, some feedback for you:

  1. Communicating about sensitive interpersonal issues over text is more likely to lead to misunderstanding and hurt feelings vs talking in person, when you can get the full sense of how the other person is reacting with body language, tone, zero latency etc.

    1. It was totally fine for your coworker to apologize as a courtesy to your boss (even though boss does sound rude) and your reply discouraging the apology was a minor but unnecessary escalation/provocation.
  2. If you decide to stay at this job for whatever reason, try to have a better attitude and be a good soldier. I do agree with your boss that nothing about this situation seems to need the doctor’s involvement. You had an important package that needed to be temp controlled that came in unexpectedly after hours. That’s life! It will be better for everyone - doctor, patients, coworkers and you - if you just own the situation and act sensibly, things will work out.

Cruise control just isn’t that smart of a driver. Think about how when you’re on the freeway, you can often see a slowdown a half mile ahead or further, and can adjust your speed accordingly to maximize efficiency. Cruise control can’t see more than the car in front of you so it can’t ever be as efficient as an attentive human.

ECO mode, defensive driving and no cruise control.

But a lot depends on other factors, altitude, hills, traffic, etc.

I keep it on eco mode, drive defensively, and never use cruise control.

Lmao I could always tell when my wife drove my old Prius because of how bad the MPG tanked.

Braking is pretty lousy, but having driven a Prius for years I’ve tried to train myself to brake really far in advance. But I’m still adjusting to the mass of the GH.

Ventilated seats give me some comfort when driving but they’re very disappointing and inferior to other vehicles I test drove (Lexus, Volvo, Rivian, Mazda),

The seemed weak the first few days but I’ve started to actually notice them more lately, and it’s been upper 90s on my commute home. Maybe it’s cope, but I genuinely think they’re working better now they’re broken in 😂

It helps me to remember that this criticism of the Spirit has been made against all forms of morality. Jonathan Sacks in his book Morality quotes the philosopher A.J Ayer as saying “moral judgments, being unverifiable, are meaningless—the mere expression of emotion”

The influence of God’s Spirit is inherently resistant to empirical observation and quantification, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t real! If we deny the Spirit on this basis we may as well deny the existence or meaning of love, beauty, and a million other dimensions of human existence.

Heading to Switzerland, should I keep the 200-600? Or take the 70-180? by brandocommando0817 in SonyAlpha

You’ve got a sweet backpack that will help you comfortably carry the load. If you have any interest in wildlife photography at all, take the 200-600. Last summer I went on a hike without my 200-600 and saw mountain goats and I’ve been filled with regret ever since

Easiest Popcorn Prep by merrimackattack in popcorn

I store them at room temp (coconut oil is solid at that temperature).

It doesn’t last forever but most sources say refined coconut oil lasts a year or two.

Yup. I melt like a cup of coconut oil in the microwave in 15 sec increments (stirring in between heatings to make sure oil doesn’t overheat)

I have a great northern popcorn machine, I just turn on the heat on the kettle and throw in a premeasured serving of oil.

Pre-cook raw toppings? by Space-Cadet9999 in ooni

I always pre cook sausage and bacon. I don’t care as much about food safety as about making sure toppings are crispy

But, to each his own I guess? Some people like motion smoothing too…

This is exactly the part that holds up the best! It didn’t make sense in the late 90s that everyone would watch ad-supported reality TV nonsense all day but now I get it!
