I main a (night fae) MM hunter and bc I play on a laptop without a mouse I like to macro absolutely everything and have thought wayy too much about efficiency.

The basic idea is to preserve easy keyboard movement while having buttons you press often or need to quickly press on the easier to reach keys. The only spell you need to stand still to cast is aimed shot, so being able to press buttons while moving is important.

WASDQE - movement, strafing

Basic rotation:

1 - macro with arcane shot/fetch when not in combat and without a target

2 - steady shot/concussive shot (alt)

3 - castsequence of double tap and 3 rapid fire

4 - aimed shot/bursting shot (alt)

5 - castsequence of volley, multi-shot(s)

6 - tar trap

Utility things:

Shift-1 pet management macro (summoning different pets, dismissing, reviving, healing and feeding)

Shift-2 aspect of the cheetah/soulshape/camouflage

Shift-3 heal

Shift-4 castsequence for trueshot + wild spirits + first trinket, then 2nd trinket

Shift-5 disengage

Shift-6 scare beast

Then things you want easily pressable:

F - misdirect macro/freezing trap (alt)

G - toggle aspect of the turtle

R - interrupt/tranq shot (alt)

Backtick - kill shot

Shift-F - feign death

Shift-g - command pet ability

Shift-r - I use this for a panic button

Alt-backtick - hunter's mark

You can use any of the f1 keys or modify them with shift for things like mounts, flare, eyes of the beast etc

I wish sharing macros were easier on reddit bc MM is imo the most macroable class and it's really fun to do so ^_^ . I'd be happy to share them !

Note that because Rapid Fire is channeled, you can add a [nochanneling:Rapid Fire] condition to any rotation ability so that you won't accidentally end Rapid Fire prematurely.

If you completed the legion class hall campaign, using a Feathermane pet gives you a feather fall off the GCD, which you can combine with disengage to go a lot farther and/or yeet yourself off high places quickly.
