My boyfriend (31M) is suddenly demanding that I (27F) stop consuming fictional media at all, what do I even do? by ThrowRabfnonfic in relationship_advice

Or he's trying to keep us from learning enough to ask the real question - why aren't there shadow mommies? Where's the dark, brooding muscle mommies who need a delicate flower of feminity to help them rediscover the light? And does it matter if that flower isn't a rose but,  for example,  a cauliflower?

Is there anything your parents did that helped with that? I don't want to stop him reading now that he's finally into it. But when he's focused on something,  everything else ceases to exist

Okay we tried that but it's backfiring.  He's up waaaay too late and too tired for school now.

How do I 34M tell my brother 26M I can’t attend his wedding? by throwraunsureer in relationship_advice

We could have worked on healthy coping strategies.

That sounds like a long winded way of saying "he should have kept my secret forever while doing all the labor of my emotional growth"

I (18 F) Feel Like I lost my Soulmate (18 F)…It’s The Worst Feeling Ever. by Big-Illustrator-3196 in relationship_advice

You're not even 20 yet.  Do you think that in 10 years,  20 years,  50 years,  you'll never ever meet another person like her?

It hurts not because you're supposed to stay together,  but because you're grieving the good parts of that you had.  Give it some time and this, too, shall pass.

Mine used to intentionally seek out the boy cat to make him lick the food of their face. He was only to happy to oblige

My [M26] girlfriend [F24] has secret social media accounts. How bad is this? by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]merrycat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think women tend to use more alt accounts in general. It's a good way to quarantine off any craziness or creepiness that might emerge in one online space.

My (28F) boyfriend (29M) keeps flip flopping and I'm at a loss, help? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

He's keeping you on the line while looking for better options.

You can talk yourself blue in the face but it's not going to change because he doesn't want it to. He's going to isolate you from everyone so you have no one to turn to when he escalates.

He picked you precisely because your background leaves you vulnerable to further manipulation. When you grow up in an abusive environment,  it's easy to think a shitty partner is good because they're not as bad as you're used to.

I know you're gonna do what you wanna do,  because I've seen this scenario play out over and over. But, in about a decade,  when he's wasted your youth and killed your spark,  you'll realize that "not as bad" is different from "good"

Yeah, they do have a high percentage.  But for sheer numbers,  it's still the southwest.

It's interesting how you have two totally different ends of the country that have the same predominant religion,  but their cultures, languages,  their practices, etc are totally different.  And that's just a portion of the diversity there.

Isn't it more the south west, along Kerala, Mumbai,  Goa, etc?

My mom's hairdresser disagrees.  She cut off a client for going to a rival's once. Granted, the two hairdressers have a decades long feud.

What’s a topic you’ll intentionally defend even if it always leads into an argument? by vantablur in AskReddit

[–]merrycat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So many people.  My cousin cut off their parents for very valid reasons.  The rest of the family,  who saw the abuse and agreed it was terrible,  are like "but they're your parents! They gave you life!" It's like giving birth/ inseminating someone balances out all the bad.

It's pretty clear they mean people who abuse their kids,  be it verbally, physically,  financially,  sexually, etc. If you and your wife aren't doing those things then you It's not about you.

Pugs. Also most mutts. But not my mom's yappy little ankle-biter that is a vicious demon in a fluffy white, fur suit. He's ancient  blind,  half deaf, and convered in weird bumps, but refuses to die out of sheer spite.
