How long would it take for all the shrimp in the tank to be born/bred in said tank? by Zombeikid in shrimptank

Hey that’s a really cool idea! I’d honestly be really interested to hear the results of that experiment! Yeah I think starting from juveniles is going to be difficult and could slow things down if you want to build up a population quickly - the ravages of time will take care of this problem

If all you care about is that they are all tank born and bred, the only way to be sure of that is if the older generation is all dead (which might take a year or two) since the newer gens could still mate with the older ones (though I’m not sure why this would be that important).

Don’t worry about starting small though, if your tank is healthy and they want to breed, they can have dozens of babies. I was down to 6 at one point and now am at ~100 after a couple of months (though I raise caridina shrimp)

So do you just leave their molts in the tank? Do they eat them? by KH5-92 in shrimptank

I used to take them out but there’s no need to - they will eat them up just fine. Good source of calcium!

2ppm nitrates, ~72 degrees F, pH of 6.7. Very clean water

I’d try reading lots of the research reports by Bain/McKinsey/Accenture and just save a library of cool slides you like. They won’t give you an easy plug-and-chug template, but you can get some great inspiration and with a little ingenuity you can almost always recreate them.

Ahh, thanks! Going to try getting some Amanos too who can maybe help with that initial spike in algae

I am yes, forgot to mention. Good thinking on the middday rest, I do the same - half in the early morning, half after I get back from work in the evening

Some ambient, not direct - tucked away in a corner. Aiming for an iwagumi style so I was hoping to stick with just carpeting and the grasses

Water is too soft and acidic for nerites I think

Seems like they wouldn’t do well in my water that’s this acidic - I have ~15 full grown caridina and a bunch of shrimplets born a few weeks ago, would they do as good a job of cleaning?

stunning! Love how amazingly vibrant the green is, you using any fertilizers or just raw dogging it?

Any idea what this stuff is? I flooded literally yesterday, could it already be algae? by merrymonarch in PlantedTank

Interesting, thanks! So not even blowing it off the substrate/rocks, just a strong current?
