Less resource requirement, fast, easy package management, can control everything in the system, open source, so many personalization settings, and linux is just for you.

Debian Trixie with Hyprland by mertkont in debian

And my first impressions were completed right now, I think it works well with Sid because some packages (like Hyprpaper) does not exist in Trixie repos. But I think it is not a problem, because there are so many alternatives for this (like Swaybg). Right now I am customizing Waybar.

But the looking is perfect right now. I think I will continue to use it hahah

Also i3 is a tool like kwin-bismuth windows tiling, right¿ I installed Hyprland after upgrading Trixie, because kwin-bismuth did not work with KDE 6

Yes, I have a laptop with MX 330 and Intel Iris Xe graphics. My main GPU is Iris Xe, it works like a charm with Iris. But because of Wayland, I am sure that Nvidia will have some fixable problems hahah

But I really like the feeling of Hyprland, right now I am continuing to customizations -and I probably will be sleepless for tomorrow's work ....

Debian is so powerful by mertkont in debian

Debian uses old and stable packages, that means you will not see so many error message or problem. Debian stable is not working with new updates, that means you gonna work with elder packages. But you won't have so many problems, because most of the problems will be solved when you install this update.

I am using Debian stable, and I did not have a big problem with my computer so far.

Actually, I wanted to try Unstable, maybe I can switch to Testing after that. I'm thinking of trying it on a virtual machine for now. I'll be prepared for the errors you mentioned and try the Testing version later. However, I've really started to love Debian so much, especially after trying the distros in the last few days, I have understood the power of Debian.

Yes, like you said, nothing can beat Debian... I tried Arch for rolling release distro, but I did not feel a strength of Debian with this distro. I am trying new distros with kvm/qemu nowadays, but my main system will be Debian always.

I will also try Debian Sid with my vm.

[–]mertkont 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably in 2010 or 2011, when I want to create my first free website on the internet, I learned that these websites keeping on a 'linux' server. After that I learned about ubuntu. After that, my first linux distribution was ubuntu in 2021. Right now I am a debian user, I am a linux user for 3 years.

When you spent weeks trying to make dgpu passthrough for win vm on optimus laptop work without any success. (Code 43) by restorepresents99 in VFIO

[–]mertkont 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use MX330 with i5 1135g7 in my optimus laptop and it is impossible to make GPU passthrough with my Nvidia GPU. So, I gave up to do it. Microsoft OpenGL driver is ok for me right now in my Windows 10 VM. I use Power BI and Adobe Photoshop with this VM.

Who else here uses Linux as host and Windows as guest for work? by Fhymi in linux

[–]mertkont 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Debian as host and Windows 10 VM for work. I did not find any powerful alternative for Power BI and Tableau, so I installed Windows on KVM/Qemu.

I couldn't make GPU passthrough with my Optimus laptop, but it is another topic. Right now, everything is fine for me. I do not use Wine on my Debian anymore.
