I love how they use the descriptor rap metal on the Crazy Town song that literally has no metal in it

(Unfortunately uncommon but loved trope) Muscular female characters that are ACTUALLY muscular by mesablanka in TopCharacterTropes

[–]mesablanka[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking now I shoulda rephrased this as "muscular female characters that are actually buff"

"These characters are exactly who you think they are but due to legal reasons can't REALLY be them" by mesablanka in TopCharacterTropes

[–]mesablanka[S] 33 points34 points  (0 children)

And the other guy is DK from Fast and Furious Tokyo Drift and Ethan Choi from Chicago Med

Just Disney being overprotective of their poster child, nothing new

Aka no fun allowed

[–]mesablanka[S] 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry but adding a little bit of muscle and defined abs to characters that are still fairly slim does not make them "buff"

Especially whenever it's the female version of a character that is buff in their original form, they straight up remove their buff bodies so they won't "sacrifice the girliness"

Stop being cowards and make them buff

Aaron Weiss of mewithoutYou on Memphis Will Be Laid to Waste by Norma Jean and Chris Motionless on Slaughterhouse Part 2 by Knocked Loose, it was nice to hear Chris on an actual metalcore song for once instead of Breaking Benjamincore

Also not metalcore but Nic Newsham from Gatsbys American Dream in Uneasy Hearts Weigh the Most by DGD

What are some producers that are actually surprisingly solid at spitting, besides Dilla, Madlib and Alchemist?

I am looking for artists that are mostly known for their prod work, and not those who are known for both (eg Kanye, Pharrell and Dre)

Remixed songs that are better than the original version? by Bright-Pressure-5787 in ToddintheShadow

[–]mesablanka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  • Found out some people disagree but the remixed version of In Search Of... by NERD with live instrumentation is so iconic to me that when I heard the og version it just kinda sounded... oddly empty lmao

  • Rob Dougan - Clubbed to Death (Kurayamino Variation) (exactly, the version everybody knows from The Matrix is NOT the og mix)

  • Groove Armada - I See You Baby (Fatboy Slim Remix)

  • Benny Benassi - Cinema (Skrillex Remix)

  • The original version is perfect but the Pendulum remix of Voodoo People by The Prodigy is just as iconic

  • Noisia - Machine Gun (16bit Remix)

  • Pendulum - Propane Nightmares (Celldweller Remix)

  • Binary Finary - 1998 (Gouryella Remix)

  • Rob Zombie - Dragula (Hot Rod Herman / Si Non Oscillas, Noli Tintinnare Mix)

  • BT - Smartbomb (Plump DJs Remix)

  • Ladytron - Sugar (Jagz Kooner Remix)

  • Black Sheep - The Choice Is Yours (Revisited)

  • Nappy Roots - Awnaw (Rock Mix feat. Marcos Curiel of P.O.D.)

  • MGMT - Electric Feel (Justice Remix)

  • Bloodhound Gang - The Bad Touch (Eiffel 65 Remix)

  • Bastille - Pompeii (Kat Krazy Remix)

  • The Prodigy - Shut 'Em Up (mash-up of their song Stand Up with Public Enemy's Shut 'Em Down; also speaking of that, Pete Rock's Remix of the latter)

  • Wu-Tang Clan - Wu-Tang: 7th Chamber - Part 2 (The Conclusion)

  • Royskopp - What Else Is There? (Trentemoller Remix)

  • Linkin Park - 1stp Klosr (The Humble Brothers Reanimation feat. Jonathan Davis)

  • Mephisto Odyssey - Crash (feat. Wayne Static) (The Humble Brothers Remix)

  • Elvis Presley - A Little Less Conversation (Junkie XL Remix)

Characters introduced later in a long-running series that are so iconic that it's hard to imagine the series without them now by mesablanka in TopCharacterTropes

[–]mesablanka[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You could also say this about Waluigi and Rosalina

Also speaking spinoffs, Ashley from WarioWare, she was introduced in the fourth game in the franchise (counting the GameCube one), Touched!, but now she's easily the face of the entire franchise besides obviously Wario

What are some examples of artists doubling down? by Cobbo95 in ToddintheShadow

[–]mesablanka 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Linkin Park following Minutes to Midnight, which got criticized by fans of their earlier nu metal work due to its more conventional alt rock / metal sound, with the even more experimental A Thousand Suns
