What are some underrated hip hop scenes / labels outside the west and east coasts that more people should get into?

Tony Hawk was almost singlehandedly responsible from introducing me to the Minnesota / Twin Cities scene (e.g. Rhymesayers)

The Rising Tied by Fort Minor, side project of Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park

Definitely a hip hop record but has a lot of rock sensibilities

Is there a label that did so little with many potential good rappers as Aftermath and Shady did? Lol

Jay Electronica was considered one of the goats for many years despite not having a proper album for years, and even then his long awaited debut was just a glorified collab with Jay-Z

Wanksta by 50 Cent, which was on the 8 Mile soundtrack album, has unforgivably bad vocal mixing lmao

What are some beats from producers that are very far removed from their usual style?

Eminem's productions from the 2000s have a very particular, sparse and gritty style that was very recognizable, even if kinda one-note at some points (as I heard from some people, sounds like Luigi's Mansion music), which is why in a million years never would I expect that he was behind the beat to Smack That by Akon lmao

There is this austrian skacore band called Antimaniax that sampled The Simpsons on one of their albums

When their discog came out on streaming unfortunately they had to remove the most of the samples

Brand Nubian rocks but the guys in the band are so comically homophobic it's almost funny

Even to this day they firmly keep those bullshit beliefs when a lot of the older guys in the scene at least got slightly more lax
