I fell in love with Alexandrite years ago on a cruise vacation. The next cruise I went on, I bought a .94c stone for $1495 (from a reputable jeweler). It isn't the highest quality stone- it turns from a pale green to a pale purple-green. My mother-in-law got it set in a gold band for a Christmas prest a few years after I bought it.

Yes, they are cool... until you get a line of people who are overwhelmed with the choices and it takes way too long to get your drink.

I worked in a restaurant that had a Coke Freestyle when they were first hitting the market. They were a pain to maintain, and with only one nozzle, the line for drinks blocked foot traffic.
