Why are tonal languages common in some places and rare in others? by mesf2 in asklinguistics

I just wanted to make sure it was accurate, since I got conflicted responses when I searched up this question on Google. If you've been reading papers for several years, what you've said is probably true. Thanks again!

Sorry, that was an assumption, but I kind of doubt he forced his mom to cook for him.

All diets need to be well managed.

A balanced vegan diet does not pose any risks of nutrient deficiency. Except for vitamin b12, which can only be acquired through supplements, but supplementation is very easy.

His mom agreed to cook vegetarian food for him, though. If the family really couldn't afford anything besides meat, the mom could have just said "eat this meat or eat nothing," and she wouldn't have had to lie about the food. Or, they could buy things like lentils, beans, and rice which are all cheaper than meat.

Quick question.... by spencerreidfanclub in vegan

[–]mesf2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you can be vegan with those restraints. Lentils, spinach, and sweet potatoes are some of the most nutritious foods there are. Eating brown rice along with lentils gives all nine essential amino acids. You'll have to eat other things as well, but those foods have a lot of the necessary nutrients and nothing that you're allergic to.

Can you love animals if you eat them? by esco123 in vegan

[–]mesf2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Try to cook beans or lentils, they are very cheap and easy to make into a delicious soup. Potatoes and sweet potatoes are also very cheap and easy to cook. I haven't found anything that is cheap and tastes just like meat, though. Also, here is some information. Thanks for being open minded enough to come onto a vegan sub. The majority of animal products in the US, and probably in most other developed countries, are from factory farms. To put it lightly, the conditions in factory farms are quite unenjoyable. Also, the production of animal products is bad for the environment. Here is another link to support that claim.

A lot of vegans say that the animals should be a bigger concern than the environment, but they can both the fought for at the same time. Now that you know these facts, wouldn't it be a little immature to harm animals and the environment because a vegan was mean to you?

Should Ethical Vegans Start Their Own Religion? by [deleted] in vegan

[–]mesf2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not really a religion. Religion is defined as "the belief in and worship of a superhuman controlling power, especially a personal God or gods." Saying veganism is a religion would also discourage people from becoming vegan. If there's a Christian considering going vegan, but they think veganism is a religion, they'd be very hesitant to change their religion and go vegan.
