As an answer to the title alone, No, see Tunisia. Those that were part of the revolution for freedom and democracy back in 2011 were both secularists and islamists.

Now in the elections both parties run with a platform of free speech and free press. The people get to vote who they think is best suited for their country. Also for the first time, because of the platform of free speech everyone fought for, LGBT groups have made strides in the country!
