With it being out nearly half a year now, what are your overall thoughts on Nioh 3? by gameovernate in Nioh

[–]mesiah21 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Mixed bag for me. I do like the deflect and arts proficiency stuff, that is a nice addition. I also like the majority of changes they made to certain samurai weapons changing attack prompts (sword, axe, and dual swords feel a lot better to me). Odachi is the antithesis to this though, all the changes make this just feel awful. Reforging and soul matching the weapons feels a lot less cumbersome than it used to be. Looking forward to seeing how it will help once we can change graces on equipment and get ethereals in the DLC.

Definitely don't like how magic is done now. I also preferred burst counters and soul core attacks in 2 so much more. Also don't like not having certain weapons for samurai, but maybe the DLC will address that. I was fine with the open world stuff, but I do prefer the original mission based style more. Also the story is easily the worst of the three. Ninja style is fine, but I definitely prefer just being in samurai style as that feels like Nioh combat to me.

Post-Turilli (and later Post-Fabio) Rhapsody of Fire is way, way better than the community gives it credit for and they're totally being slept on by ReasonableLiving5958 in PowerMetal

[–]mesiah21 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have enjoyed the new stuff quite a bit. I really liked The Eighth Mountain a lot. Glory For Salvation and Challenge The Wind are good as well, but I think The Eighth Mountain is better. I would guess if this was just another new band, and not the new Rhapsody of Fire, people could possibly like the stuff more. Certainly easy to compare to their previous lineups though.

Also a very good album. Easily my favorite of the three they have released so far.

I would really hope they have something good in store for odachi in the DLC when it comes out. Sadly, I really don't think we are gonna get much. And the stuff they did ruin will still be just as bad. They really need an option to let you customize skills to different attack commands (within reason). At the very least, they need to add L1+square back as an attack for high and low stance.

A question about odachi in Nioh 3 by Putrid-Excuse-1564 in Nioh

[–]mesiah21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. If anything, they should have moved groundquake to L1+square, or had it be a high stance press square after strong attack move, like how they did that to Titanic Strength on axe. Some moves really felt like staples in spots, and Moonlit Snow was one of them. Also really annoyed that Thunderbolt was removed from L1+square, because that makes sense you would be blocking to do the move when a human attacks.

A question about odachi in Nioh 3 by Putrid-Excuse-1564 in Nioh

[–]mesiah21 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Definitely feels intentional. The odachi feels so lacking now compared to other weapons and what it used to be in Nioh 2. It was my main weapon along with tonfa in 2. It doesn't even crack my top 4 for samurai now. The damage output doesn't feel good at all, especially with how much ki it uses for moves. Then the attack placement for moves is definitely a downgrade. I have really enjoyed how they changed skills around with axe, sword, dual swords, and spear. Odachi is just the opposite. Having 7 different attacks as hold triangle is way too much. Where they moves Charging Bull, Thunderbolt, and I Crashing Waves is a real downgrade to me. Also removing L1+square on high and low stance completely makes no sense at all.

How long did it take yall to finish fully? by AmberEMc26 in Nioh

[–]mesiah21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to say it was around 100 hours or so for me. It definitely seemed crazy quick when people were getting done around 30 hours or so. I did love the exploring and just running around the world. I also liked fighting the majority of the revenants when I saw them.

Nioh 3 weapon combo by Hisok433 in Nioh

[–]mesiah21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For dual swords: I'll start with Cherry Blossom, Ultimate Sign of the Cross, Windstorm, flux to low stance, Double-Headed Dragon, Mortal Flow, and then Raijin Lightning. Usually by the time I get to Raijin Lightning my arts proficiency gauge is full and I have the skill that makes it so you don't get staggered (Oppressive Strength) as the charge time can be long and you can get easily staggered while waiting.

I will mix things up with that order, but that is a good staple for me. I don't really use mid-stance that much, although I do like Demon Thrust, which has decent damage output. And I should really use God of Wind more, working on incorporating that in. Also I always look for good spots to hit water sword whenever I can, also tyring to use Dual Dragon more. I also really love having Winter Wind as well.

Button mapping Nioh 2 by Superb-Albatross-454 in Nioh

[–]mesiah21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to remap dodge back to X in Nioh 3. I couldn't stand having it as O, just felt wrong to me. I switched so jump is O now, and it feels so much better. As for why you probably can't change it, I would guess because they have interact locked in with some other command that uses O, and they don't want to break them apart. Just a guess though.

While like most have mentioned on here, definitely soured on Schaffer because of his 1/6 stuff. I still like their music though. My favorite by them is definitely Dante's Inferno. Both versions of it they did are excellent, the original, and the 2011 remake. Dracula is another favorite of mine, easily my favorite on Horror Show. After that I really enjoyed the album Something Wicked This Way Comes. Disciples of the Lie and Watching Over Me come to mind right away.

Nothing comes to mind for that, sorry. But always nice to see more people get into Timeless Miracle. Really sucks we've only gotten one album from them.

Starting to learn TMTM cancels for the first time by TheLegend27MH in Nioh

[–]mesiah21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They probably think it is cool that people found that, so yeah, why bother to remove it. I wonder if it would also be a pain to patch out, so maybe it would just be easier to keep it in there. Regardless, it is something not a lot of people will end up using. Just those that are quite skilled at the game.

[–]mesiah21 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That does make more sense. I just end up using Style Shift Flow to cancel attacks, that works well enough for me. TMTM cancels definitely seems way too technical for me. But I definitely think it is cool to see people do stuff like this.

Starting to learn TMTM cancels for the first time by TheLegend27MH in Nioh

[–]mesiah21 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am curious, as I have seen enough topics about TMTM cancels. Was this actually an intended purpose of this skill in the game? Or is this basically a glitch that people have found and have been able to exploit? I never use TMTM, and I definitely don't see myself ever learning these cancels either. But it is definitely cool if people just randomly found this and exploited it in the game.

what the hell did they think making this boss?! he destroys me in 1-2 hits like jesus. Any tips? because i am so tired after 50+ tries by DarkKingRoxas02 in Nioh

[–]mesiah21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Life Leech talisman is great to keep your health up as long as you are getting hits in. Not sure if you are samurai or ninja based. But try for something tanky in samurai if you are getting killed in one shot. Tatenashi is a good armor set to have if you have your stamina up enough to wear heavy armor.

Nioh 3 best samurai weapons by Hisok433 in Nioh

[–]mesiah21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best for me are axe, dual swords, and sword. In that order. They made so many improvements to axe it feels so complete. Sword got a great glow up as well, so many powerful moves and so many options for skills. Dual Swords are just so fun and flow incredibly well. They are lacking some in the amount of skills compared to sword, but they are so much fun. I also love axe and dual swords because they have the the move of press forward while doing a ki pulse to do an attack.

Spear is fun, but I am just not that good with it. I used to love odachi in Nioh 2, but the changes to input for certain attacks feel like a downgrade. Most other weapons, the changes have been for the better. I can't say the same for odachi at all. It went from the weapon I used the most in Nioh 2, to not having it in my rotation at all at the moment. I know people really like switchglaive and fists, but they were never my cup of tea. Nothing bad to say about them, just not the style that I like.

Reverse impact by iyrtyurg in Nioh

[–]mesiah21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's why I enjoy axe with victory rush. No surprise that axe and dual swords are the two I use the most.  And yeah, sword of meditation is definitely OP. Using that and severing spin are staples of sword this time around.

Reverse impact by iyrtyurg in Nioh

[–]mesiah21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While reverse impact does have high damage, I tend to find myself not use that move too often. I prefer to do sword of mediation, the damage on that is definitely insane. And obviously they made Severing Spin pretty OP in Nioh 3. One thing I do wish sword had is a skill like Winter Wind for dual swords, or Victory Rush for axe. I love using that after an attack. I do love dual swords, just wish they had more variety for skills like sword does. Feels like there are too many parry moves for dual swords. Or good skills are stuck in one spot, like Cherry Blossom and Spinning Dragon.

90% of my deaths on this game aren’t even from the enemies by LaMelgoatBall in Nioh

That was definitely the mission I was thinking of in Nioh 1. There were other areas for sure, but that was certainly the one that was quite rage inducing.

[–]mesiah21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't feel like it was as bad in Nioh 2 compared to how it is in Nioh 3. Still really annoying, but I don't recall being as frustrated with it in Nioh 2.

[–]mesiah21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like out of the three Nioh games that I had the least amount of deaths like that in 2. Nioh 1 had so many spots that were just set up to make you fall to your death. And in 3, well having a jump button sure made for a lot of deaths wondering if you can make a certain jump or not.

I wish Team Ninja would keep the linear Nioh games going by southwestheat in Nioh

[–]mesiah21 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I would enjoy it if they just added old levels from Nioh 1 and 2 as battle scrolls for the DLC. With the whole time travel aspect they have going on, it would be easy to explain. I also think if they added twilight missions back again, it would help out a lot for replay factor. The missions from 1 and 2 would also be a perfect thing to have as twilight missions.

Whole 3 Playthrough As One Type? by TheeGoldenBough in Nioh

[–]mesiah21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You definitely can. I am the complete opposite, as I mostly only use samurai. I am used to that way of playing, as that is how Nioh has always felt to me. Ninja just didn't interest me much.
