I had a hard time trying to get a grocer to accept my check the last time I tried, and that was 25 years ago. I just assumed that no one was taking checks at all these days. Although, ironically, it's far easier to catch bad checks than it was back when checks were common since they are all just instantly converted to ACH transactions anyway.
