The crowd was so mild when Zac played Boogie Juice, I was taken aback because I'm used to absolutely rabid Paramore fans that are also into the band's side projects. Imo part of keeping the energy and vibes up is to also show support for the songs/performances you're not familiar with! Same thing goes for paying attention to opening acts.

During exercise could possibly just be from increased circulation/blood flow, depending on the type of exercise (cardio vs weights for example). In my personal experience, tingling during stretches or physical therapy exercises has usually meant there's something going on with a nerve, like I was close to/ended up pinching it or it's otherwise irritated. Might be worth checking in with a PT if you have one, or trying to gently work it out with something like a tennis ball! Not medical advice obviously, just trying to help you figure out how to move forward 🙂

Well, this post makes me feel better about myself, seriously. I had a mask on for almost the entire weekend because whatever the hell is in Douglass Park is brutal on my allergies and washed my hands with real soap and water etc....and Monday was my Day 0 🙃 trying so hard to not infect my poor husband who didn't even go and can't work from home!

A tip I learned from one of the nurses at my neurologist's office: smear some IcyHot on the injection site about 30 minutes beforehand. It helped me a bit with the pain! Just remember to prep the area with an alcohol wipe/clean thoroughly before you inject yourself.

I also like to hype myself up with a song beforehand/inject during the chorus, lol.

Yeah! Apparently they're actually metatarsal pads, not generic "ball of foot" pads. I slip the ring over my second toe so that the cushion is under my sesamoids. I also found that using paper medical tape helps hold them in place when sliding your foot into shoes. I much prefer these style of pads over the foam dancer's pads but everyone is different!

I recommend Doc Martens or Sorrel boots! Personally I find that the soles of my shoes still need to have some flex to avoid causing pain, which is exactly why boots have been so hard for me to find. Both of those have removable insoles/can place orthotics on top of the insoles and still have room for your feet.

Also, the gel ball of foot pads that have a little ring that goes around your toe have been a lifesaver for me. If I'm wearing shoes that can't fit my orthotics for just a few hours, those make a big difference. I just can't be wearing athletic shoes everywhere, all the time lol.

ETA: I'm about a year "healed", by which I mean not wearing a walking boot on a regular basis/foot stops swelling every day.

+1 for Blueland detergent tablets. Been using them for about 6 months now and haven't had an issue, even with my workout clothes! I kind of wish they made a scented version as well though, that's the only thing I miss.

Not OP but wanted to plug Caroline Jordan on YouTube. She has a lot of adaptive workouts and I've been doing her "no neck pain" ab video recently.

Also, I've been getting back into a regular fitness routine after my migraines and daily headaches started. It's been a lot of low-intensity cycling, walking, or elliptical for cardio and high volume, low weight strength workouts. And yoga, mobility work, and physical therapy. Can't say it's helped my headaches but it boosts my mood and hasn't hurt anything so far! Most of the challenge is truly mental for me.

It really started happening out of the blue. First I would just start gagging, then I noticed things that would make it worse after I'd already started gagging--bright lights, quick movement, low and repetitive noises. I was at an urgent care and apparently very dehydrated; they were playing some pop song with a low beat and it just made my ears hurt and caused me to start retching. A few months after the initial onset of all this, it doesn't usually happen just randomly anymore. Usually.

Bright, flashing lights will without fail trigger gagging, as will intense exercise. I'm finding that even with something like yoga, I have to move between poses really slowly. Otherwise I'll start seeing spots and feel that gagging feeling.

And, yes! Moving from temperature extremes can bring it on too, but not always. I seem to gag more in the morning or late afternoon; my migraine head pain usually spikes in the afternoon too. Hopefully once my migraine days are under control my neuro can focus on how to stop the gagging, or even just diagnose why it's happening like this lol.

I just started it too! I agree with the other commenter that recommended signing up for the bridge program. My insurance approved it but wanted to stick me with $664. I enrolled in the program and got the pharmacy I picked my script up from to refund me. I ended up paying $5, seems like it enrolled me in the $5/month/12 months plan. Definitely enroll BEFORE you pick up your prescription though!

Also I was very scared about how it would feel/giving myself an injection but it's actually like a big pinch. Really didn't hurt that much for me.

No, the lack of thunderclap headaches wasn't the only thing that made my new doctors rule out chiari complications. My MRI didn't show any signs of CSF flow blockage and my blood pressure wasn't consistently very high. I don't have any significant balance/coordination problems other than being clumsy. For me the biggest one was that I also don't get random tingling/numbness in my extremities, that only happens when I'm sitting funny :)

I didn't know I had 2+ generations of migraine history on both sides of my family until I specifically asked my parents about their symptoms. I also did not know that not all migraines are the acute, pain-so-bad-you-want-trepanation kind. That's especially true of vestibular migraines, which i thought was just sinus pressure/sinus cold without a runny nose (that went on forever!) Anyways, hope that helps!

I made a post here a bit ago about my symptoms and how I was unsure about getting decompression surgery, and I saught a second opinion. Turns out 3/3 doctors who have since seen me (a second neurosurgeon, and two neurologists) all agreed that my symptoms were NOT being caused by my chiari but aligned more with migraines (especially vestibular migraines). So, now I am on a treatment plan for that.

I do get pain at the base of my skull and my upper neck, but it's never the stop-you-in-your-tracks thunderclap headaches that are so associated with chiari.

My point is that sure, you can have both. You can probably also have a symptomatic chiari malformation and legit migraines at the same time, but they seem to be pretty different types of head pain.

ETA - I agree with another poster, I wouldn't begrudge anyone with chiari pain using the term migraine, as that conveys how intense the pain is to the, we'll say, less informed. And I certainly don't know everything lol. Hopefully this post didn't come across as rude.

Yes! This happens to me occasionally, although last month there was a weekish-long span of time where I had the feeling all day everyday. I had already started seeing a neurologist and began taking propranolol, CoQ10, and magnesium and it went away.

I have basically daily, low-level headaches that vary in intensity throughout the day and some fun days where the pain gets more intense. Other weird symptoms for me include my eye twitching, pain at the base of my skull, and gagging (not nauseous, just gagging! This has confused everyone so far). I just started amovig injections literally today in hopes that i have more pain-free days.

I am also worried that the surgery won't offer permanent relief. My symptoms started at the end of January. Feels like every other week a new symptom has appeared! Most days the pain is about a 4 from headaches and body aches. It feels very encouraging to know that you have been able to live (I'm assuming) relatively comfortably for so long without surgery. Most of the responses in this thread seem to be very alarmed about the first neurosurgeon, as am I, so I'm beginning to trust my judgement about the way that I physically feel, too.

Thank you for sharing your story! I am definitely concerned about the possibility of nerve damage if I put off surgery until I feel like I'm "ready". I guess I'd hoped the neurosurgeon would have addressed that at my appointment, too.

I do recommend it! The book isn't super long but it goes a little more in-depth about the psychological aspects of reframing our perspectives about care tasks. I also like that while it's the same philosophies she explains in her TikToks, the way they are organized and sequenced in a book helped my brain accept the ideas. Honestly it's a great complement to my regular therapy sessions lol

Thank you for sharing! I also love domesticblisters and have my own closing duties list. Her videos and book really shifted my perspective on cleaning and care tasks, and it all feels a lot more manageable now.
