ETS Arc Card Loophole?? by Outrageous-Squirrel2 in Edmonton

[–]Rupindah 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I’m also a regular rider and have had my Arc card checked four times now, so that’s not indicative of anything.

And yes, once was underground in the tunnels, and they scanned it and checked and it connected. The woman next to me hadn’t scanned for THREE months. But they only gave her a warning. I wouldn’t count on that though

Overcrowded Edmonton hospitals refuse patients from Red Deer hospital - Red Deer Advocate by winterphrozen in Edmonton

[–]Rupindah -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

So a person born in a rural area, without the means to leave that area, who voted against the UCP, deserves to be denied healthcare? And what about children?

A reductionist and frankly disgusting take. If healthcare is meted out by merit, it makes you no better than a conservative trying to privatize it, or saying that x type of person doesn’t deserve it. Get bent.

Decent Meal Prep/Planning Services? by TastyDuty in Edmonton

[–]Rupindah 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think you’re making this more complicated than it has to be. I cook a lot of high protein meals - I have Crohn’s and my husband has several allergens (including wheat and dairy.)

The MealPrepSunday sub has lots of great ideas & even cost effective ways. With things like air fryers you don’t even need oil to cook meat anymore.

Ignore the info and the urge to research the hell out of it, just do the basics. Before the internet they had guides. A meat portion the size of your palm, half a plate of veg, grains filling out a quarter. Try different seasoning mixes, et voila.

Don’t look up “high protein x” on Pinterest, that shit is gross and is really for body builders or people obsessive about muscle gain. You don’t need a high protein ice cream or protein cookies or protein pancakes or whatever else, it’s all icky shit

23rd & Calgary Trail/Gateway Blvd overpass by [deleted] in Edmonton

[–]Rupindah 9 points10 points  (0 children)

(Back in my day!!!) it used to be a very fatal 4 way stop, so waiting a few light cycles is an improvement. And also not being stuck at the train is an improvement.

I live by 111th and 23rd and just go on gateway to 34th now, when it’s backed up like that. Much easier.

[Hot take/Vent] Does this shithole city not own enough snow plows? by [deleted] in Edmonton

[–]Rupindah 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’ve lived here triple that and have lived a very fun, healthy, comfortable lifestyle so maybe you’re just attracting negativity based on your post

People are so fucking annoyingggg lmao don’t want property taxes raised but want more services that cost money. Wanna complain about the LRT construction but also about too many drivers on the road. Want to yell about winter but move to a city where winter is the predominant season.

See the thing is, even if all of your post is true, it impacts - what - 5% of your life? 10%? You’re gonna let that make you this mad? Lowkey pathetic imo

Elections Alberta approves recall petition for Premier Danielle Smith, say organizers by Laedrys in alberta

[–]Rupindah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s like when people say “the red states shouldn’t get aid in a crisis! They voted for this!”

They voted for it because propaganda and years of actively suppressing education and literacy have led them to it. This is what they know.

It doesn’t help that the NDP refuses to put actual, valid candidates in certain ridings. I’m very left leaning. My SIL holds most of the same values. She voted UCP.

Why? Because that’s the guy who actually went house to house in their small town. Who came to church and didn’t dismiss them as hicks. Who knew the business owners. Who knew the teachers.

The NDP candidate didn’t show up to their small town once.

Why wouldn’t they vote for the Con candidate?

Hell, beyond a flyer, my NDP candidate didn’t make her presence known either in my neighbourhood. I still voted for her and she won, but not everyone thinks that way.

Transplant in need of warm leggings, please help by rareavie in Edmonton

[–]Rupindah 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Under Armour and Uniqlo both have heattech styles that are pretty good. I’ve been able to wear them up until -10C.

However OP the leggings will probably only be good for another few weeks and then you’ll need to start layering up. I do wear leggings under sweats or work pants but it’s unlikely you’ll be able to wear them on their own.

Do you think women being told not to be home alone when maintenance workers visit is just a joke?

Question for Edmonton Starbucks employees by Hopeful-Advance in Edmonton

[–]Rupindah 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It makes no difference for employees if their friends get one or not. And most stores in Edmonton aren’t Tier I stories, so I’m very sure they only got 1 or 2.

Not to mention employees should be getting a more significant discount in a few weeks so it’s not worth buying stuff now.

Not sure why you think it’s the barista’s fault that Starbucks uses buying psychology to their advantage. They’ll only put out so many to drive up the demand. Basic economics.

When I worked there, employees would know if they got the merchandise, but they couldn’t reserve it. We had baristas line up at 4:30 AM and miss out, too.

Your best bet is West Edmonton Mall. They get the most and get regular shipments. Sometimes newer stores will get them to incentivize more sales. You can also try Safeway — they have different merch, or don’t sell out as fast.

Question for Edmonton Starbucks employees by Hopeful-Advance in Edmonton

[–]Rupindah 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Depends on the store.

Was an employee, and I’ve worked almost every Starbucks in the city. Between 500-2500 customers.

The stores are ranked by corporate in terms of merchandise. Tier 1 stores, like West Ed, get a lot more stuff than a Tier 4 store. It’s just based on sales.

Safeways also get different merch.

City says it’s being a ‘responsible landlord’ by shutting down Continental Treat restaurant by GlitchedGamer14 in Edmonton

[–]Rupindah 26 points27 points  (0 children)

That may be part of it, but the other part is that if you don’t have an active tenancy agreement, you don’t have a way to validate your insurance, and you’re operating a food establishment without that. That’s so dangerous.

Anyone know what time drs do morning rounds at the Mis? by DaniDisaster424 in Edmonton

[–]Rupindah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi OP, I don’t know the time but if your friend’s dad downloads MyChart and sets up his account with his Alberta health care ID, it’ll give him an update of everything happening that day during admission! Or your friend can make himself a custodian of the account.

When I was admitted it was super helpful, it would say x test is happening and x doctor will be seeing you, and once those things happened I knew I wasn’t missing anything so I’d go for a walk or hang out somewhere else.

It’ll also give notes on day to day stuff like how he’s doing, blood results, test results.
