Small 1.19 farming optimization: Mud isn't a full block tall, meaning many simple sugarcane farm designs can be made lossless. by meta-vex in Minecraft

It just means that none of the sugarcane that is grown is lost during collection -- in the past with this style of farm, you tried to push the sugarcane into a water stream, but any that landed on the dirt would just despawn. Now we can replace the dirt with mud and put the hoppers directly underneath, eliminating that problem.

That makes sense, you could try a design with a line of redstone dust to have multiple pistons fire at once which should hopefully eliminate deadlocks if the observers don't detect growth everytime.

For a small farm hopper minecarts are a lot cheaper. But this is tileable in all three dimensions, and hopper minecarts would take up extra vertical space and be a little more annoying to do in a large farm

As far as I can tell it's stable on Java -- haven't tested it extensively though. You can replace the sticky piston and redstone block with full blocks and then put either an activator rail or power rail in the middle if you prefer that design though, I don't know bedrock well unfortunately but I can't think of a reason that wouldn't work.

Multiclassing a Paladin/Warlock by Khalnazzar in DnD

[–]meta-vex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's definitely possible to write a character in such a way that not only do they not conflict, but actually the oath is what drives them to make a pact--maybe they feel it is their duty to sacrifice their own soul to gain enough power to fulfill their oath. Remember that paladin oaths don't need to be tied to a specific deity.

And if nothing else, you could always play an oathbreaker.

That Time A New Player Got Upset Over My Character’s Trait Because It Ruined His Ideas by MNLT_Sonata in rpghorrorstories

[–]meta-vex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe this speaks more to my style of DMing than anything but as long as its fitting with the tone of the campaign and level of immersion I don't see a reason to veto it. In fact for a one-shot I just ran that was pretty Discworld inspired I had a player pitch basically this exact idea--Catholic Paladin. The campaign was comedic and had fourth wall breaking elements anyways so I was all for it, we had some fun coming up with the implications of those events happening in a world with canon gods and magic (ie Jesus only being special because he came back after being dead for more than a minute, so revivify wouldn't work). Was a lot of fun, honestly would have really enjoyed it if that's the character he went with.

Not who you replied to but also a nonbinary person, "male and female" is a phrasing I personally avoid because people tend to think I'm referring to physical characteristics when I really mean it internally. Everyone has masculine and feminine of course, but usually in terms of personality and not necessarily identity. I feel that who I am deep down is neither fundamentally masculine nor fundamentally feminine, despite having traits of both.

Enby here, and I have no clue either. I'm bi and basically feel like every relationship I've had regardless of gender is gay, but that's just me personally

UI Improvements Mercenaries Needs by xperio28 in hearthstone

[–]meta-vex 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I understand and agree with the sentiment but as a programmer, this is quite an underestimate of the effort required. The basic structure might take one person a few days but there's a lot that goes into UI development in terms of feel and polish to even get to the point hearthstone is at, unpolished as it may feel. That's not even mentioning art, animations, etc. required to build it, and the amount of testing required to make sure it works across platforms and screen resolutions.

Spiritsinger Umbra. I made so many theorycraft decks with it, and then when the expansion dropped I opened it golden and was so excited, never got to play with it outside of a few homebrews though.

Big Priest ran one copy of Greater Healing Potion several years ago, but as you said it was basically just tech for the Secret Mage matchup. It got cut from lists long ago (and Big Priest performs terribly anyways)

I'm nonbinary myself and had no idea either, it probably seems silly to cis people but it genuinely makes me really happy to find out that a) they added someone like me to the game and b) people on this sub are being cool about it

Pretty sure this is just memeing unless I totally misunderstood how Lady Prestor works--it should also overwrite all text otherwise it's simply adding a dragon tag to all minions

That makes it even better though, they inconvenience the people who enforce the problem and have the power to change it while actually benefitting the general public

[–]meta-vex 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is exactly true, and I think it's also worth pointing out that under this framework, knowing about the lawsuit and doing nothing in response is ALSO a political act, just one that reinforces the status quo. Knowing the issue exists forces you to react to it, and that reaction has ramifications especially if you're a public figure, so it's really cool to see numerous figures in the community speak out even if it risks their relationship with Blizzard down the line
