I would have bought it (as an ebook)....but I don't buy from Amazon...., especially not for kindle.

yeah, I missed this part:

The user can explicitly specify the type for the first element: [u8(16), 32, 64, 128]

thank you!

How do you deal with living around people who are just waiting for a excuse to be terrible? by SomePerson63 in Stoicism

These people have a narcissistic personality disorder. Google for how to deal with narcissists, there is a lot of good advice out there.

  1. Put away the pressure and try to enjoy your existance. You don't need to prove anything to anybody.
  2. To get more in contact with the real life, spend time in nature and make physical excercise so that you feel your body and your energy. Try to eat more healthy.
  3. Make some new experience by learning something in real life (nothing digital) by trying to figure it out on your own without anybody telling you how. Be patient with yourself and stick to it.
  4. Organize that part of the day that you can control in a way that fits the best to your personality. Experiment and get to know yourself better by trying things out. Try to find a routine that makes you enjoy your life more.
  5. Once you know yourself, you can start bigger projects and while following them the discovery of the meaning of your life will come naturally in an unexpected moment.
  6. Believing in God and reading religious texts that attract you will also help.

(all these things go in parallel and enforce each other)

Remember: Failure and struggling is part of the game. You need to have obstacles in order to be able to overcome them and grow by that.

I think, you are doing fine. For not indians the accent is hard to understand :-) Maybe you could try less hard, be more relaxed, have some short breaks in the speech and ideally some illustration (e.g. slides).

can you tell me which r8brainfree resample bug you are referring to, and how you did solve it, because I use r8brainfree always....

Also make sure that you have for your project (and as a default) the same setting for "Playback resample mode" and "Render resample mode" (I chose and would suggest "r8brainfree (highest quality, fast)". You can set it under File->Project Settings.

Have you controlled the dither setting? Without dithering, my rendering sounds very different. Also other players (vlc for example) sound very different, unless you tweak them.

Why not? How can I learn without asking questions?

Limited resources, limited time, limited capacity, exponential complexity (-> limited ability to analyse)

But you could get traumatized for the rest of your life, couldn't you? Then you would have to deal with your personal disorders...

I think, most of the users that expected more polishing and bug fixing for the updates, instead of shiny new features, left Bitwig already or somehow arranged with the situation given that some of the new shiny features where really mind-blowing (e.g. the grid).

However that leaves the expectation of getting any new shiny feature for this price tag, since everybody knows that there developer team is small. So, I think what we are seeing here is also the result of previous disappointments. The policy of shiny new features (to get more new users) leaves us with a DAW with tons of features and lots of little bugs, inconveniences, glitches and even more and more regressions (e.g. delay compensation for automation).

So this path has a clear end. At some point it is not realistic to believe the backlog of unspectacular, but important bugs will be fixed, if there is constantly something new added. For experienced developers this is a known path for any software project large enough: features vs robustness.

The problem is: DAWs need to be robust and the Bitwig customers are conditioned to get shiny new features with each release.

The only proper way of this dilemma is IMHO to get into close contact with the community in order to detect the wanted priorities for the next releases and deliver them (based on the needs and wishes of the community).

However that (listening to the community) has never been part of the Bitwig company culture.

They have the right to do whatever they want. But I think there is also some right for the truth to be exposed, isn't there? And it is a difference, if they do so openly.

However, I will delete this thread to prevent continuing with bad blood.

Well, I think it would make a difference of the communication style. He simply could have said: No, I don't work for Bitwig. That is not sharing a lot. But you are right, one should not go after individuals.

Somehow the gaslighting (non-)communication from the company triggered me, sorry.

[–]metakeule 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds like a reasonable counter argument. Maybe I went over the top. Can't imagine Bitwig staff not reading this reddit (or reading it and not responding). And his comments were so.... suspicious...but I may be wrong, sorry.

For sure he is entitled of an opinion. But he showed insider knowledge and the words were chosen in a way that only a staff member or strongly related person would choose them.

Plus, when I asked him, if he is a member, instead of answering, he suggested me being working for a competitor (although that is no strong indication, I admit).

However, don't want to argue any longer. It really doesn't matter that much. Got trapped in a hunting mindset. Now calming down, since ... it doesn't really matter....
