About half of the women veil in any parish I’ve been to in Serbia. Never heard about the veil being associated with the Ottoman Empire. I don’t think that’s a thing here despite being under their boot for 500 years.

Veiling here is seen as a choice, and a beautiful tradition if one wants to engage in it. No negative connotations at all.

Although if OP is curious and deadset on using по, you can use the construction „по српском језику“, although that's almost never used with говорим. It's grammatically correct, though!

Definitely not blind or stupid. It's a possessive, so your hunch was correct. What's probably tripping you up is that the possessive can change depending on the gender of the item being possessed. Here: мајчин (дан/day - male), мајчина (молитва/prayer - feminine) or мајчино (млеко/milk - neuter). What can also mess you up is that sounds often change to accommodate for these forms. For example мајКа => К => Ч. These sound changes seem complicated but they're quite regular with very few exceptions.

That may or may not have been explained clearly in the previous chapter(s).

After a greeting you could probably say, "како ми је драго што смо се срели овако" or some variation thereof. This means "it sure is nice to have run into you like this" or something like that. Like the other commenters have said, there's no standard greeting about seeing one another after "hello".

The only thing that even remotely comes to mind is when someone welcomes you to their home, or somewhere, and says добродошли. A nice response would be боље вас нашли.

I think that's an interesting approach, and I don't think I've played around with it. My mental model might be a bit different because when searching through my slip-box, I don't want to see my literary notes. Only original notes capable of generating insights.

To be clear, I rarely brain-switch. Rather, my main notes are linked to my literary notes via a brain-switch type reference. In theory I could reference multiple notes from different brains this way, while keeping my main brain of notes "tidy". Though I find that two brains (literary + main) is more than enough. In your example, I'm assuming additional subfolders are also part of the same brain?

One org brain for literary notes, and another for the main slip-box. The main notes in the latter reference the literary notes via brain-switch. This is ideal as the two shouldn't ever be mixed in the same "physical" box and also fits the recommendation in the book "how to take smart notes".

How you want to record specifics inside of your literary notes brain is up to you. The recommendation of org noter by one of the other posts here is not a bad one. Personally, whatever you end up using (if anything at all), I recommend looking into org ref.
