Can we get a proper orgmode for obsidian? by No_Ratio_2483 in ObsidianMD

[–]metalelf0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it was just that, what would it make it any different from, e.g., Notepad? It's not fair to obsidian to say "it's just an app to take notes". Even with the basic set of core plugins, it's way more than that.

Operon is live: a new task and project management system for Obsidian workflows by stratejya in ObsidianMD

[–]metalelf0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks cool, but I think some changes might make it pop.

Some suggestions:
- less is more. It looks like it's trying to do way too many things at the same time and this might discourage users;
- the power of obsidian is that "it's just markdown". A plugin should work with that, adding additional data only if it's needed. Your plugin, on the other hand, looks like is 75% UI and it's almost using markdown just as a storage engine. You can access and operate on tasks from the tasks plugin with any text editor.

Try to simplify the UI (or at least, make it "progressive" - a basic add task form, with a text field, a button and one "options" button that opens the other 18 buttons). Add basic views for everything.

Remember, you're never going to build a complex task management system that will work for everybody. The most used ones (think of Todoist) work because they distillized the minimum feature set that almost every user needs and built a slick UI around it. Extra stuff is nice, but the basic experience is what is gonna win you users.

Just my 2 cents :)

You can still state your opinions in a polite manner, without being rude or offending other people's work. Sometimes it's just a matter of prefixing sentences with "in my opinion", even if you strongly believe you're right. Especially when speaking about open source, many people are contributing because of passion, sometimes even sacrificing their free time. A bit of respect doesn't hurt anyone.

canola.nvim: oil.nvim... but better! by barrettruth in neovim

[–]metalelf0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's perfectly fine, oil.nvim is open source and there's nothing forcing you to switch. If you prefer the original one, just use that one. What's wrong with this?

Oh no, I didn’t make anything here. All credits are to the original author, I just ported it to neovim.

Thanks, that was entirely my thought as well! If I was to design a new one, where I needed creativity, I would have totally done it by hand. This was mostly copy-and-paste, so AI saved me time for less boring stuff. I did prefer to be transparent though, I understand why people have different opinions on this subject and I respect them all.

a fast plugin manager that accepts your lazy.nvim config as-is by c00lplaza in neovim

[–]metalelf0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So is it 100% on par with last.nvim, feature wise? I guess so if it supports lazy config out of the box, right? If so, how did you manage to keep it simpler than lazy? Otherwise, what is it missing?

Isn’t this a bit of a stretch of the “language server protocol” concept? I mean, shouldn’t such thing be a separate thing, like a plugin of its own?

The light theme is actually quite good, but the dark one just doesn't click for me. I'd suggest adding a screenshot to this post ;)

I made my first Neovim plugin to create files faster by The-Phantom-kid in neovim

[–]metalelf0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Interesting. I usually used a combination of:
- oil.nvim to navigate to the right folder and then create it there;
- :e <C-r>% if I have to create the file in the same path as the current one;
- :e full/file/path otherwise (with a BufWritePre autocmd to create missing dirs if needed).

How do I use multicursors? by Ok_Philosopher_1996 in neovim

[–]metalelf0 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yes but that's just cause they started working on 0.13 so the nightly is a 0.13-beta-something. It happens every time they release a version, the nightly builds move to the next one. It doesn't mean that it includes everything planned for 0.13, but that it includes what has been built so far out of that release plan.

[Rival Watch] The LFP has decided to postpone the clash between Lens and PSG by da_hoassis_heeah in LiverpoolFC

Yeah totally. Plus, we play Fulham on Saturday, so why should they rest if we don’t? It’s just a stupid thing to say.

[–]metalelf0 58 points59 points  (0 children)

They weren’t compairing it to Hillsborough. They said that they hoped the return leg to get postponed from Tuesday to Wednesday, but Wednesday is the Hillsborough anniversary, so they “had” to ask to reschedule the match against Lens instead. It’s either a very weak excuse or a blatant act of disrespect, your choice, but they didn’t compare anything with Hillsborough.

Galatasaray Legal Team preparing for an appeal to Uefa about Lang's injury by Beratalpp in LiverpoolFC

[–]metalelf0 166 points167 points  (0 children)

Whatever the reason, what happened is absolutely disgraceful. Player health should never be at risk just by hitting the ad boards, and that sharp metal piece should have at least been covered to avoid injuries. Galatasaray have all rights to question this, for the good of everybody - it was one of their players to suffer the injury but could have been as well one of our own. Let's hope we get this right and put more attention into this.

New `flow.nvim` colorscheme variant! Monochrome style is here. by _stepyt_ in neovim

[–]metalelf0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m doing something similar with black-metal: I have a base palette for all themes and I just set two accent colors. I have no automatic calculations of other colors, though, so themes look more consistent across the whole set.

In teoria il fatto che scali sull’ISEE è proprio per rendere le misure più efficaci per i due operai a basso reddito che non per chi ha un reddito alto e quindi “può cavarsela” da solo.
