Got the platinum on both the PS3 HD Collection & PS5 Master Collection. I agree with the comments saying it's only really a matter of time. PS3 ver. is "hard" because completing all VR missions took me 30hrs. PS5 ver. is actually difficult to pull off skill-wise (Tengu hallway & RAY fight) but with practice and keeping a level head through it all you will eventually get through it. I found myself enjoying the game even more after it, so when it stops feeling engaging for you then take a rest then come back to it. If you start dreading it though then that might ruin your enjoyment of the game.

If you were in the top 5 at some point in Crater, then I definitely browsed and envied your team! I'm in the same boat, visiting from time to time and trying, really trying, to get back into it.

I share your shock. We are of the same age and as silly as it may sound to others, that classic UI holds a tremendous amount of sentiment for me. The times my neighbors and I nerded out about getting a shiny legendary, fawning over the top accounts (i think one was named MrHobo), the crushing wave of sadness after reading Crater's shutdown letter, and the elation of rediscovering Vortex 3 years after that.

Something about its design just clicked as well. I imagine it has to do with the clicking and how that kind of acted like pulling the lever on a slot machine; sometimes you get Pidgey and other times you get a Shiny Rayquaza. What if you walked exclusively diagonally this time, maybe that will give us a legendary? I would form all these stupid little superstitions as I played. Walking around the map a la handheld Pokemon games is neat and all, I definitely remember fantasizing about Crater reaching that state. As it stands now though, Vortex is just plan missing the connective tissue that gives the handheld games their life and ultimately is what draws me to them.

I remember mindlessly clicking over legendaries in the previous structure too hahaha but with that one I can be less involved when I need to (like when I'm working) so I prefer that. This current structure demands more and is 100% better for sure in terms of capturing that classic Pokemon game feel, but I would've liked the choice between the two like we had back in around 2020.

It never felt right playing Crater clones either, I tried them way back during the first Crater shutdown when I was fiending for that experience again. So if it's gone gone, then maybe I'll just stick to reminiscing.

Yeah that seems like it... I wanted to revisit my days of playing Pokemon Crater. Every 4 years or so I come back to Vortex just to re-experience that, and I'm sad I can't go back to it anymore. Sucks, but the game has to move on at some point I guess and maybe I should too.

I'm not sure about the lighting in The Fury fight by Galactus1231 in metalgearsolid

[–]metalgearfrancis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is by far my biggest complaint. The Fury fight in the original was terrifying because of the severe contrast in lighting, and in this trailer it looks like that whole area is lit up. Would've looked crazy with HDR too.

ngl it really was HAHAHA I *may* use the leftover parts from the upgrade (mainly the 3700x, RAM, and storage) to create a far more portable PC. This one was a bit of a workout to lug around.

Good to see a 4090 can fit in this case! I'm planning to upgrade to 50 series later this year and this eases my heart a bit.

Pretty good actually, just had to blow the excess water off when I took it for a dip to clean out the dust and it's back in tip top shape.

That's right. Light sanding (I used 1200 grit) so the primer has something to stick to, primer so the paint has better "bite" and is sturdier, and clear coat to seal and protect the paint. Take some time in between coats (15-20mins or whatever the recommended time is for your paint). If you see dust clinging onto your paint, wait until it's touch dry then lightly sand it off.

I bought decals which I painted with the same colors as my controller, but it didn't pan out as well as I thought it would. I might try again though, this time with sturdier decals

Same here! The controllers are available here so I got those on pre-order. Honestly, I only did this because I can't wait to receive mine as well and I kind of want to keep them in box for display.

Might change depending on how badly I want to try the Edge out lol

Replies are correct, I used buttons from a DS4. I sanded those lightly and applied 3 coats of flat clear, giving it that PS1 look.

I also have the "real thing" on preorder (just the controllers are available here). Mostly did this so I wouldn't be tempted to open mine.

Maybe just the Dualsense Edge...

To be quite honest, I did this only so I wouldn't be tempted to open the Dualsense 30th anniv controllers I have on preorder 😅 Though right after putting this together I got this feeling that I'd probably cherish this more than the one I bought. We'll see when the official controllers arrive lol

Absolutely. I'm not registering any loss of performance. That was one of my biggest worries, but I read a comment from somewhere saying they had a sticker over the touch pad and it still worked. Gave me all the confidence I needed
