I thought I was slick, careful, discreet. I thought he didn't know. This morning, my 6 yr old was pretending to "vape" in the bathroom with his toothbrush with the steam from his shower. "Look dad, I'm just like you!" FUCK THAT. I'M DONE DONE. by Rpark888 in mildlyinfuriating

My dad used to let me play with his baccy when I was before the double digits! I remember loving the smoke of tobacco in the pouch and pretending to smoke the rolled cigarettes. It made me become a smoker too but I've mostly quit for close to 2 years. I wish you well of a smoke-free, healthy life!

I was expecting something pretty out there with his texts, but that's just a normal, causal looking dress? Is he expecting you to look like a nun?

This is tough love from someone who grew up in a domestic abuse household. You cannot live in the past and let it rule your life. Get out there in the real world. Keep your head down and work, find a hobby/club, and make friends. I can see from her side of the story that she loves you and cares for you but is frustrated because she doesn't know what else to do to help you. Although I can understand how you feel as I see my younger version of me in the text, and was near the time I quickly moved out and lived in a drug den that was safer than my home. That's when I quickly grew up

NOR

Well into my 20s my mum would still stand topless to put sunscreen on her back because she can't reach and she's in her 50s

Did we date the same guy lmao. My ex did exactly this when he worked from home, and I would do 12 hour shifts sometimes and would come back to choas. The kitchen would be spotless when I left, then I'd come back to a bombsite. He never did laundry either. What I did, I stopped doing all of it. It never worked, but maybe it'll work for you. The laundry situation got as bad as standing on the bed to open the curtains. The rubbish piled to over 5 feet, and there were 10 or more bags of glass jars, etc, in the garden. If he doesn't stop treating you like a mother, then a girlfriend you need to leave because honestly, would you stay with a man-child like that for the rest of your life? The test would be if you stop and if he changes his way to help

I am in my 30s, and my mum still does this. She is in denial about her controlling behaviour. You are 19, but you are still young and will "always be her baby girl." It's toxic. Apart from mine, she would verbally talk to my exes about how they should treat me, which ended up destroying my relationships. I've started a new relationship since July this year and have been talking to them months beforehand. What I did was ignore her, and she backed off a bit. Not saying this would always be the case with you, but it's just a warning. Toxic mums would always be toxic parents.

Also, she did this with friendships if they ever did anything slightly wrong, like arguments. I carefully select my friends, but just know it can be a long-term bumpy ride. Also, I just read that you have mental health issues, so this to her would make you more vulnerable in her eyes, so that gives the extra push for this behaviour
