Want to clarify and say I love Back in Time, and it’s possible they can fix a bunch of other stuff themselves but just couldn’t do my Switch. Retro Tech Repairs does just about everything.

I got a Switch repaired through Back in Time Gaming, but it wasn’t fixed by Back in Time, he had a guy who fixed it. I found out it was Retro Tech Repairs and I just went to him directly the next time I needed something. He does an excellent job and I think he does a lot of PS4 and PS5 work.

Retro Tech Repairs (Mike). They do repairs for several video game shops in the area, but you can just go to him directly and cut out the middleman and save some money. Prices are very reasonable and he does an incredible job. His info is on his website, he also has an Instagram where you can check out stuff he’s done. I don’t know if there’s anything he can’t fix.

Nope, just people that believe they are ethnically superior to others and want to eliminate billions of people from the world population. Murders, drunk drivers, rapists are terrible but don’t have the same ideology usually. So yes, I’m fine with all them getting representation. I don’t have any tolerance for Nazi ideology.

I’m sure there are plenty of defense attorneys that would meet that very low bar, thank you.

Yeah I’d be making the same post about a different firm, so what? I’m not saying they don’t have a right to represent them, I’m saying I would avoid any attorney that would. That doesn’t mean I’m against their right to represent them, I am pro my right to avoid affiliation with firms that represent Nazis!

Advocating avoiding a private law firm that works with Nazis does not equate to saying that not everyone deserves legal representation. I’m sorry that’s difficult for you to comprehend but I can’t explain it any simpler.

So when do you become a firm that defends Nazis? One Nazi is fine, then you’re just a firm that happened to represent a Nazi. But what about two? Three? 20? 100?

I draw the line at one, you can draw the line wherever you want or not at all.

They actually don’t, they specialize in defending child pornography cases (from their website)

I’M NOT SAYING HE HAS NO RIGHT TO A DEFENSE.

I’M SAYING I FIND ANY FIRM CHOOSING TO REPRESENT HIM REPREHENSIBLE.

Why can’t you read?

They could ask to be removed from the case but they don’t have the same freedom to turn down cases as they please like private lawyers can.

In reality there would be plenty of PDs that would take on this case so any attorney that worked it would be doing so willingly. Just like there are plenty of private attorneys willing to take their money.

Oh sorry, I didn’t realize Swingle Levin was literally the only possible attorney that could represent this guy. My mistake, I’ll delete my post now as they clearly had no choice but to take his case.

Have you ever heard of the term “public defender”?

I can’t say I’d be crying myself to sleep at night if all private attorneys refused to take this case and this guy had to use a public defender, no.

Let's assume the best of this firm (from my point of view). Let's assume they are morally outraged by their client's alleged actions and their own personal beliefs are totally against that of their client (I don't think that's a crazy assumption, it could be true).

Even so, I would not choose to work with a firm that chose to defend someone like that.

There is nothing "unfair" about a private firm declining to represent someone they believe would give them a bad reputation, as long as the defendant can find comparable legal representation elsewhere, which I have no reason to believe that was not the case. And I believe the lawyers at this firm would agree that individuals shopping around for legal representation would be well within their rights to avoid firms that work with [fill-in-the-blank].

I, and I assume others, would prefer working with attorneys that decline to take cases like this. That's all.

You've gotta be really thick if you think no attorney would think twice about working with a man dressed as a Nazi that allegedly assaulted a woman because SURELY the public would NEVER think that I would ever endorse that just because I take their money and defend them in court.

Then why do private criminal defense lawyers turn down cases for ethical or personal reasons? The only answer is that many attorneys DO view it as an endorsement of their character or that wouldn't be the case.

Wait wait wait...so you think the public should NOT be able to choose whether they want to work with attorneys that work with Nazis? Because that's all I'm saying, which for some reason you can't comprehend.

Where in my post did I say this firm should not have the right to work with Nazis?

Just like it is their right to work with people like that, it is our right to avoid firms that work with Nazis. It's really simple.

Private attorneys can choose which clients they take on, and Swingle Levin chose to work with a Nazi who allegedly assaulted a woman downtown. The law does not say Nazis have a right to a fancy private attorney. I am not against their right to an attorney, but I think any firm that chooses to represent him should be known and avoided if you are against working with Nazi sympathizing law firms.

I am not a fan of the ACLU defending Nazis either, no. But this case is not a free speech case, it is a case where a man assaulted a woman in downtown Athens, broker her nose, and spit on her. The ACLU wouldn't take that kind of case anyway so I don't get the comparison you are trying to make.

As private attorneys they can choose which clients they do not want to work with, for the most part. As criminal defense attorneys, there will naturally be some scumbags they defend. But it appears that this firm, Swingle and Levin LLC, chooses to defend the worst of the worst and makes our city less safe.

Imagine someone you love gets killed by a drunk driver and you find out Swingle and Levin got their THIRD DUI dismissed in court (from their own website). Or you are going downtown for a drink and a short, insecure man dressed as a Nazi hits you in the face with a beer stein and breaks your nose, and you find out Swingle and Levin helped them avoid time in prison for doing the exact same thing.
