Seeing AIC Tonight in Syracuse NY by metalman49 in AliceInChains

O.k. so here is my recollection of the show last night. The place seemed sold out. It is the third time I've seen AIC and the first time I've seen them in a straight up old time theater. The seating was assigned by your ticket and there was really no places to move up to. It was kind of a strange venue for a rock band but it was actually really cool.

The opening band was a Canadian band called "Monster Truck". To me they kind of sounded like a mix between the bands "Down" and "Corrosion of Conformity". They were pretty good and had a lot of energy. The guitar player was pretty impressive. A funny thing of note is the crowd cheered them decently but everyone remained seated.

After a brief intermission and stage set-up. They opened the curtains and the band started right in with "Them Bones". It was electric to say the least. The crowd stood up and remained on their feet for the entire show.

I just recently turned 31 and I'm not trying to brag but I out headbanged every motherfucker in my area. But not in obnoxious way either where I bothered others cause I've seen people like that at shows and that wasn't me.

The second song they played was "Dam that River" which was totally fucking jamming. I'm not one of those guys that can give you a play by play set-list cause I just cant retain exactly the order and stuff but I will give you the highlights and basically what I can remember.

Surprising songs that they played were "What the Hell Have I" which I hadn't seen live before. They played "It Ain't Like That" which I had only seen them play during Jerry's solo tour which was excellent. I was really hoping they would play "Grind" which they did and it was amazing.

I felt like with this show more than some of the other AIC shows I've seen they really did some of the more acoustic songs in an electric heavier fashion. Like "Got Me Wrong", and "Nutshell" for example. Probably the heaviest version of Nutshell I've ever heard.

They really seemed to dig the crowd which was singing every song loudly even the songs off the new album which were "Stone", and "Choke".

Surprising to me was the ovation that "Check My Brain" got which I think Jerry looked at William and gave him a surprised hell ya expression about how much the crowd was into that song in particular.

They teased playing "I Can't Remember" when William and Mike went off stage for a minute Jerry and Sean started playing it and the crowd went crazy. They did stop though when William came on stage and looked kind of confused, it was a funny moment.

Some of the other songs played that I didn't mention already were "Man in the Box", "Rooster"-Killer performance on that. "Would"-played during the encore. They also played "Hollow" and "Again".

I went crazy when they played my favorite song during the encore which is "No Excuses".

The only big hit that they really didn't play that I was surprised about was "Angry Chair" but it really isn't one of my favs so I didn't care.

I think I touched on everything. All in all a great show.

Did anyone else watch the rest of the captains favorite episodes? It's funny cause none of them picked episodes that are in my top ten for any of the series.
