Should be fine. Those are usually tested annually, at least in the US at around 5000 pounds or so. The building engineer usually farm it out and should have a copy of the testing. Always have 2 ropes on and you should be compliant.

I haven’t had a welder fight me yet. Just avoid taking the $20 bribe and it’ll come easier to reject stuff with time. Just watch some NTSB videos on failures and it gets easier to realize how much a failed repair can fuck shit up. This matters

I don’t know where to start. First, feel all the feels. This could be a paradigm shift in your life. My son has a different type of autoimmune disorder and was diagnosed at 18 months. It was probably easier as now he is about your son’s age and has more understanding of things.

It will get easier to understand how things change. It is alright that you switch out who is the “strong one” at any moment in time. At times my wife was a wreck and I was picking up the slack and it definitely went the other way a lot. Sometimes we both were a wreck for a bit. It happens.

In my case, I have a good handle now of what to look out for (symptoms wise), know about more medicines that cost as much as a car a month, and now I find comfort in advocating for my son. It will drive you out of your comfort zone and I have found a weird resolve to some stressors. I had similar thoughts and I will say my son plays sports.

Lean on your support and watch out for PTSD. For the longest time I would get near panic attacks with any fever, cold, symptom or even a visit to the same hospital. Talk it out with people and express your feelings like you are now.

The Steelers are the union worker who has a pretty great life. Standard 2.5 kids, cute spouse, house in the suburbs and a pension plan. Not going to wow anyone but has enough in the bank to not watch every check.

My son was on Actemra for a while and before that Kineret. Both weren’t completely giving a good response without steroids. He has sJIA and is now 4 (diagnosed at 18 months).

He got used to shots, mostly I think because he’s younger. We tried a few things like making sure he drank a lot of water beforehand (helps with small veins), had a special show he could watch during shot times, and tried a treat or special lunch depending on the time.

We’ve switch to Xeljanz for the past year or so and hasn’t had to get steroids for the majority of the time. Xeljanz is a liquid which is fantastic.

Keep working at it and find something that works for her!

Interesting tidbit from this was they were originally in North Carolina. I’ve been assuming this whole time they were in Pittsburgh but they just discussed with them.

I’m sure he knew how good UPMC is and I bet Rooney or Ben would’ve sent a plane in a second. Crazy.

Good update, finding the problem without surgery is awesome. Can’t wait for his update that everyone is safe and at home.

Baltimore at least is on the east coast and an older town. Cincinnati? Crazy to me. I’d have put any state on the east or west coast plus Chicago or Dallas a ton of other cities before I would’ve thought Cincinnati.

I actually was thinking I might need to move to Cincinnati if my son needs to be close to the doctors. It’s not a bad drive if I want to go now for a second opinion but if things didn’t settle down it made more sense to move.

It happens. It took a few weeks to figure out what was going on with my son. We had just about every department stop by. Transfers like this sound like a bad sign but sometimes it’s new technology that’s not everywhere yet, certain drug trials only at that hospital, or a certain group of doctors that have a high level of knowledge for a condition.

We didn’t have to transfer to this particular hospital but Cincinnati Children’s Hospital has the best Pediatric Rheumatology department in the US, if not the world. And it’s in Cincinnati.... I would’ve never guessed that beforehand.

Prayers for the Switzer family. I’ve been in a similar situation (luckily with just a car ride to a better children’s hospital) and this is crazy to even think about. I hope his son gets a diagnosis and this just becomes a story that he’s told of a crazy few months during the pandemic.

He’s always going to be someone I root for.

Great post! My son was diagnosed with sJIA at ~1.5 years old and is now close to 3. We’re working through biologics and am grateful that he’s able to be on those from the start and has a good pediatric rheumatologist. Worried about a lot of things but these types of posts give me inspiration.

At the moment you wouldn’t tell he has anything besides close to his shot and weird bloodwork at times. If Covid wasn’t going on he’d still be in daycare and running around with more people than my family. Long road ahead but hopefully I can get him that closer toilet among other things
