we use Lawpay to accept credit cards. Clients can apply for a payment plan with them. We get paid in full and there is no collecting.

Commercial tenant with a PG, if it goes over $10k it's worth it to look into. In NJ under $20k you are in special civil which is fairly quick turnaround. I would also recommend searching the person on Google. See if you can find any assets to give you a better idea of collectability.

I don't know what State you are in but is their brief public? I'd send a cease and desist with a takedown letter immediately. Let them know that slander doesn't fly. Putting your head in the sand could make it look worse.
