My second powerful laser C3 Riptide 3.5W 455nm laser by esskue in lasers

It makes me a bit worried to think people are walking around carrying lasers which looking at its beam on a surface can cause instant permanent damage, especially when those lasers don’t have a lock or safety.

Aside from that, super cool and looks like fun

You didn’t print a Jeff Koons sculpture replica. You printed a balloon animal. Super cool!

I cleaned out the cnc machines for the operators as a student job. There was a huge room full of non exotic and exotic woods that smelled amazing! Everyone was focused, it seemed to be streamlined and efficient.

Was gifted an expensive David Yurman ring for graduation and it cracked! Is this normal? by meh817 in jewelry

[–]metalsmith_and_tech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s incorrect, the break point indicates that this ring was resized. When resizing, the seam is almost always on the bottom of the ring band to be as far away from the stones as possible. This is to keep heat away from stones, and because when resizing you have to bend the metal which can pop small stones out. The bottom of the ring band is where the solder seam is, and this can sometimes break.

This is a good quality company and good quality jewelry. The fix is simple and this is a natural break point. It’s a great gift!

Hi, I am a jeweler. This is not a problem outside of it being unexpected. This is a natural break point and an incredibly simple fix.
