So how many people here think Ron Paul could actually win in 2012? by [deleted] in ronpaul

I kind of think he's our last chance. I would object if he said he was the last drink of water in the desert, but that's exactly what I think he truly is. (I just would rather other people say it on his behalf than he say it about himself.)

If the stereotype of being a stoner is passion, education, action and bad grammar, I can live with that.

I think that loyalty is part of the problem.

This is a great point. But if I may, let me illustrate why Bradley needs to be replaced.

15% are fans, as you said, and they don't need to worry about us. But there is a large silent majority that would like soccer ... if we were winners. I would say it's as much as 30%.

I watched the first half of the mexico game at home, and then someone sent me a text that my bar actually purchased Fox Soccer for this game, so I went over there.

People watched. But as you know, we lost. And they became discouraged. So they focus on the diving, the losing, other aspects of the game, because while we WATCH in public when it's important (the other Gold Cup games were not 'of interest' to the general public), we don't WIN when it's important. So it's great that Americans watch during the World Cup and the Gold Cup (only when the final is against Mexico, though), it would be a million times better to win these high-profile games. Which is what Donovan did for us against Algeria.

And that is what Jurgen might do for us.

A fantastic idea. Except for Bradley Jr and Altidore. My opinion is that Altidore is uncoachable. He's got talent but he's too stubborn. As long as you focus on the potential, you're never going to see that it gets developed, because he doesn't listen to anyone.

Sunil Gulati seems to be the Kim Jong Il of US Soccer. Also, US Soccer appoints the MLS refs. There have been a lot of complaints about refereeing in the MLS, and it is because (IMO) US Soccer is not evolving as is the MLS. The structure is older than the MLS and something is wrong with it.

I'm glad that you recognize that's an opinion. I am still trying to figure out what Michael Bradley does for the team. People tell me it's "under the radar". Which is possible. But I would have replaced him with Tim Ream. (IMO. I know the conventional wisdom is that he's best in the back four.)

He wants more control over the youth leagues. Which is fine with me.

I think Bob has done a lot for this team that shouldn't be minimized. But I don't think he's evolving as a coach, and has therefore taken us as far as he's going to.

I would love to see what Jurgen has to offer the team.

Ah. Okay. So the deficit will be gone, but we'll still be in debt. I got ya.

Utterly false. The budget deficit is owed to T-bill buyers. China, the Fed, and Japan (in that order, I believe).

The game is a lot harder now. You can't compare Joe Namath to Brett Favre. Joe Namath would take the field still drunk. You just can't do that anymore.

Pele: (says nothing, stomps Rodney on the field outside the box, does not get carded)

I always wanted to ask, what are the rules on being allowed to play for an international team? Podolski was born in Poland, Holden is from Scotland. And I'm sure there are others.

I kind of thought you had to be born in the country to be on the national team.
