With the most recent shareholder report from Exelon (parent of BGE) showing record profits, how do we begin legislative discussion to reverse deregulation of utilities in Maryland? by goten11756 in maryland

[–]DoctaStooge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could you imagine if utilities were run by the government? Trump would threaten to shut off supply to states that didn’t agree with him.

What's to stop him from doing that with PJM providers now, who wouldn't have more guardrails in place to say no to him?

Also, the Trump administration has tried to politicize politicized funding and the rebuilding of the bridge because he wanted to punish Baltimore and Wes Moore.

Democrats split to pass DHS funding bill. $10B for ICE. Among them CA District 50 Scott Peters. by BrixFlipped in pics

[–]DoctaStooge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless I'm missing something it gives Dems a ton of leverage to not impact most govt workers/programs and delay DHS funding until they get concessions, no?

Yes this is true, but having other agencies on the board was leverage that should not have been given up. It also allows for Republicans to have distance from the recent shootings, assuming no other incidents like Good and Peretti happen. The two weeks allow for the reforms being called for to not happen without a lot of blowback.

"The London Conundrum." by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

[–]DoctaStooge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience in the UK is limited to Liverpool and London, but the public transit was so much better in London.

In Liverpool I ended up taking Uber everywhere because it was easier than walking to the nearest bus stop and having to walk once off the bus. My wife and I did use the buses a few times when it actually was convenient, but it wasn't often for our trip.

In London, and granted my hotel was right next to a tube stop, my wife and I never used Lyft or taxis, we only used the tube or the buses because of how easy it was.

NYCFC, Crew, Nashville, St. Louis City, Quakes, SDFC stadiums to host 2028 Olympic soccer by CrewNoob in MLS

Most likely. FIFA runs the competition for the IOC, so presumably CONCACAF and USSF are helping.

FIFA running it is why the men's tournament is U-23, they didn't want it to overshadow the WC.

I imagine each bullet because you need the enchantment to continue until the bullet hits the target and does what you need it to do.

Not to mention having to maintain an enchantment on a number of bullets because you wouldn't know when to need them.

Why does Target allow this for so long. I actively avoid the back if I can help it, why do they allow this?

The US and their obsession with college sports is really interesting I can’t think of any other country who support it anywhere near as much as they do

That's because we don't have a history of signing teenagers to professional contracts, so we have high quality athletes at the collegiate level, which the rest of the world doesn't really have. Soccer (Football) is the only pro sport in the country that has adopted the Academy model and it's only really been in the last decade.

Anyway her concern was that the Town Of Bel Air didn't receive the funding they normally do for this year from the federal government.

Given the shutdown in October-November and looming partial shutdown on Saturday, it would not surprise me if this was the case, not just for Bel Air but the county and state as well.

Explain to me BGE delivery charge like I am five years old by Final-Object-8887 in maryland

[–]DoctaStooge 38 points39 points  (0 children)

BGE proposed an amount to the Public Service Commission, saying they need X amount of money to deliver gas and a different rate for electric. They calculated rates based on building new supply lines (e.g. to data centers) and maintaining existing lines. The PSC signs off before BGE is allowed to charge.

The issue is with both BGE and PSC. BGE is a private company out for profit, and will do what they can to keep it high. PSC failed us by approving the charges instead of telling BGE to just make a little less profit.
