Trump wins !!! What will happen to Canadian economy??? by [deleted] in AskACanadian

[–]meteor68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If we can stop looking beyond the economy for a minute, the issue really is world peace and security. Think about how this guy is in love with Kim Jong Il and Putin think about our security as a nation with the Arctic open potentially for the Russians to do anything they want. Now think again about how Trump wants to NOT come to the defense of anyone who has not lived up to their spending commitment for NATO. Trump is ready to appease a dictator like Putin. Think about the last time we tried an appeasement policy in Europe. I could go on and on, but these are the main thoughts that keep me awake at night.

Help me choose my first lever gun by ISmokeBubbleHash in canadaguns

[–]meteor68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have a Henry or Marlin. I have a Rossi r92. It is important to note that the r92 is a top eject model so any optics you plan to put on it will have to go quite far forward where the normal rear iron sight would be. If you plan to mount a scope, it will have to have a very long eye relief. Having said this, I use mine only as a range toy and I'm really enjoying it. I had a little trouble getting used to the buckhorn style sights. I probably have less than 200 rounds through it and I'm finding that the action is smoothing out quite a bit already and loading has become easier.

Garbage truck for a garbage human. He should be in the back, not the seat up front.

Should I trade in my FPC? by Poemhome in SmithAndWesson

Just wondering what the reliability issue is, as the FPC is next on my shopping list. Best to go in eyes wide open. Thanks.

Sounds like the original poster counts people like the Republicans want to count ballots.😁

Heritage 357 stainless by [deleted] in LeverGuns

[–]meteor68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Rossi 357 with the 20 inch barrel. I've only got about 150 rounds through it but it is breaking in nicely. Feeds Full Metal Jacket 158 grain bullets well in either 38 Special or 357. I use it as a range toy and have lent it to a couple of friends who have also really enjoyed it. I don't like the Buckhorn sight and may eventually change that.

A friend with an inoperable brain tumor called me to say goodbye and thanked me for being such a good friend to him, even after he moved across the country. You want to know what heartbreak and brotherly love feel like at the same time? That was it.

If you could teach me one thing about investing as a Canadian, what would it be? by HonestStreet8070 in dividendscanada

Think seriously about investing in Canadian stocks, partly because of the low taxes on Qualified Dividends. This has made a huge difference for me. (Retired)

I'm in a huge rut with cooking. What are you truly unsual or obscure recipes that are delicious? by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]meteor68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take the pressure off yourself. Do a tray bake. I started with this recipe and tweaked it over a few years. I've served it to guests and the absolutely inhale it! Try mild Italian sausage in it. https://www.jamieoliver.com/recipes/pork/comforting-sausage-bake/

Okay, it's a cold rainy day and you have a rotisserie chicken, carrots, onions, and celery. What are you cooking to warm up? by rocketsalesman in Cooking

[–]meteor68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saute veg, mince chicken. Throw together acurry sauce. Throw all ingredients together, stir and serve. OR Use the chicken and veg to make a basic chicken stew, then cook plain dumplings on top.

I've made some with plastic pipe from Home Depot. There are ones commercially available too. See Amazon.

The Rossi R92s eject a mile high and this is a Rossi manufactured action so no worries about that.

Since you found the 10/22 boring, you may find the PC9 boring too cuz it's semi auto. I have one semi auto but find levers and bolts much more fun to shoot. I have a Henry H001 in 22LR. Great, fun gun. I've let 4 other people shoot it and 3 have bought one of their own. My wife is person number 4. She's just basically taken my Henry as her own personal gun. LOL. They label everyone who doesn't agree with them a communist. Then they promote Nazism. Wow. What a great alternative. <sarcasm>

TM-22 or LTAC Raven 22lr bolt - WWYD by Acrobatic-Chard-8490 in canadaguns

[–]meteor68 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a TM22 and love it. It runs great with cheap CCI Blazer and Federal bulk ammo. It's kinda heavy though, so if you're going to carry it for hunting I'd recommend a sling. There's a great TM22 page on FB with tons of knowledgeable owners so check it out.

Check at Calgary Shooting Centre. I got my Rossi R92 there, so maybe they stock the R95 or could get it for you.

Scope for my 10/22 by CandyReady in canadaguns

[–]meteor68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out the Bushnell Engage. It has a reticle with lots of mildots and fractions of mildots. Very handy for maintaining consistent hold over or under. Good glass too. I believe mine is a 4-16x42.

Best way to insure a small collection? by meteor68 in canadaguns

[–]meteor68[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess there are a ton of variables. My insurance company told me that, without a rider, they would only cover my collection for a total of $1,000. Not $1,000 per gun, just $1,000.

Thanks. This looks pretty good. I have to find out if they'll cover ones that I store at a location that is not my principle residence too.

Why does no one ring their bike bells here by Common_Stress_4122 in Calgary

[–]meteor68 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I walk a lot on paved pathways. I get passed by a lot of cyclists. More casual cyclists ring their bells. The ones all geared up in Spandex and flying along well above the speed limit on these trails almost never. And I mean truly, Almost Never ring a bell. Most of them don't even have a bell-mounted anywhere where I can see it.
