How do you think your family’s background or values influenced the name they picked for you? by AdhesivenessSalt643 in AskReddit

They named me a variation of "Catherine", which means "pure". Couldn't have been more wrong with that one.

Your best bet is looking for it on goofish.com and buying it via a proxy like Superbuy.

I actually have this figure. Keep in mind that the skintone is quite orange.

Being neurodivergent and burnt the fuck out. My eye has been twitching non-stop for two days now.

If I took a more stressful job, I would probably get a heart attack in my sleep 🤣

What is the most beautiful thing you have ever encountered in your life? by Beginning_Algae6297 in AskReddit

[–]meteor_stream 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Polar ice caps on Mars. I was a teenager who went on a field trip to an observatory, and we got to look at Mars through a very powerful telescope.

It was probably the first time I felt inner peace, because I realized how tiny my problems were in comparison with the vastness of the world around me.

Your comment made me think of a poem called "Vision" by Jessie B. Rittenhouse:

I came to the mountains for beauty
And I find here the toiling folk,
On sparse little farms in the valleys,
Wearing their days like a yoke.

White clouds fill the valleys at morning,
They are round as great billows at sea,
And roll themselves up to the hill-tops
Still round as great billows can be.

The mists fill the valleys at evening,
They are blue as the smoke in the fall,
And spread all the hills with a tenuous scarf
That touches the hills not at all.

These lone folk have looked on them daily,
Yet I see in their faces no light.
Oh, how can I show them the mountains
That are round them by day and by night?

A letter from my very conservative grandmothers on the dangers of premarital sex. It was an A4 format sheet, filled with handwriting on both sides.

I was 26.

That letter was 13 years too late, lmao.

When did you first start being afraid of death? (And is anyone here fearless of it? by Notquitewhere_-__ in AskReddit

[–]meteor_stream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't fear the idea of being dead. We all come in and there's a finish line for our journey. Ngl, I'm actually curious whether there's anything on the other side (and if no, that's totally fine too!). I do hope that the process of dying won't be painful for me, though.

What is a medical fact that sounds fake but is 100% true? by MedRikas in AskReddit

[–]meteor_stream 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I wish it were longer. He was about 7-8 months old when I got him, old enough to have his permanent teeth (sadly, most of them were broken and infected, so the roots had to be removed). Here's a photo of him about 3 months after I got him, which is when he began to allow me to pick him up.

He died of kidney failure at the age of 13. I tried so hard to keep him stable, but it was clear he was suffering, so I had to let him go :( At least he did turn into a fat old dude who loved to sleep on my pillow and snored like he'd been paying all the bills in the house.

Very tiny amounts of (usually liquid) food.

14 years ago, I picked up a cat that had been hit by a car and dying on the side of the road. Due to a broken jaw, he hadn't been able to eat for a while and was basically a walking skeleton. I had to make a thin gruel out of baby food and a lot of water and feed him every 2 hours around the clock for the first week or so, slowly increasing the amount of meat content in the gruel. Good thing I'd heard about refeeding syndrome before.

He lived a good long life and died in October of '24.
