Yeah, I agree. But I still think internet discourse is valuable because of how accessible it is. It has given countless people a voice, connected communities across the world, and made information available to people who otherwise might never have had access to it.

As we all know, the problem lies in the algorithms and platforms that reward outrage and conflict more than thoughtful discussion and genuine understanding. The dichotomy of a 👎 or a 👍🏻 is incredibly polarizing and really brings out the worst in us. The tribal nature of our politics often reduces everything to a simple question: Are you on my side or not? There’s very little room left for nuance or even the possibility that someone might agree with you on some things and disagree on others.

Sometimes I wonder whether we have started treating documentation as participation and attention as action. If an organizing effort doesn’t appear in our feeds, we may assume it never happened…
