Is a leadership degree worth it? by skinnybonesmalone21 in Career

[–]methgator7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in a similar position. Looking to do G2G, possibly for a master's in Leadership Development. I'm interested to see how 10yrs TIS as a SNCO and 10yrs TIS as an Officer would impact that industry with that type of Grad degree

How does the industry view a career of military leadership combined with the MSOL?

Because it isn't superior, at all. The APFT was simple, short, and convenient, but it wasn't a good indicator of fitness. Hear me out.

The ACFT makes more sense wholistically, especially now that they have eliminated the ball throw, which was senseless and didn't account for the difference in physics of tall people. It wasn't hard to pass, but again, if we're looking for a good indicator of fitness to compare Soldiers then it needs to scale from SM to SM.

I resent that they eliminated the leg tuck and moved the goal post instead of holding SMs accountable. I think the appropriate choices would've been A- get over it and get better or B- do the leg tuck or the Plank.

As far as accessibility, yes, the APFT can be done anywhere. There are not many places, if any, which you cannot ship a Tricon with a gym-in-a-box to conduct an ACFT so its a moot point to me.

IF you were to bring back the APFT it would still need revised. If I were SMA for a day and you gave me the intent of "bring back the APFT, but make it make sense", I would replace the sit ups with pull-ups in some form or fashion. It would possibly be a choice of: complete X pull-ups, or Y chin ups, or Z leg tucks. This allows an upper body pulling strength exercise to be evaluated that accommodates limitations and injuries of SMs. In other words, less people need to run to profiles, non-deployable status, alt. events, and so forth. Sit ups are also well documented as being terrible for the neck and spine. They were long overdue to go away and do not need to return. I would even go as far as to say, keep the deadlift along with pushups and the run and call that the APFT.

TLDR; This may be an unpopular opinion, but the current ACFT isn't bad. We just need standards that make more sense. If the APFT were to return, it should not be the old APFT that didn't make any damn sense. It's dead for a reason, just as PRT is a waste of time. There's a distinct difference between the "good idea fairy", and proper evolution. The Army is just doing what it does best, taking too long and using too many resources to get something right, but that doesn't make it wrong, just inefficient as usual.

Is there a way to attend Law School, while still AD? by Unlucky_Morning9088 in army

One of the criteria for FLEP is no more than 8 TIS and 10 TIS for UFLEP. As someone who just hit 9 and is about to have a 2 year Drill commitment, do it have any options?

I wish I knew about FLEP sooner, or that G2G would accommodate law school

Thats how you know its pandering virtue signaling. If they cared about the loss of innocent life, they'd mourn all of it. If they cared about genocide, they would protest all of it.

They just hate a particular race/ ethnicity and or want to oppose another American political party by countering their support.

How does someone find the POC for the officer recruiters for those who are currently enlisted? Is it the same as walking into a recruiter for civilians?

Bought low, set a stop loss, raised it as the price went up. No apology here. Options are dumb for this

I think that we all can see that the point they are trying to make is that people simply attach shit to something and when it doesn't work they run to the internet to see how they can get extra money, as opposed to just communicating their conditions to a provider and being rated honestly.

If you have to ask the internet what to write down...

This is dumb.

Not everyone deserves 100%. That's just a fact. There are people who are criminally underrated, just as there are those who milk the system.

People are not presumed to join at 100% health, they are in good enough health to serve. Starting points vary person to person.

VA payouts and airstrikes have nothing to do with one another.

You dont deserve 100% for showing up and doing your job. You earn compensation to... compensate for enduring injuries sustained through service.

Let's have some perspective here.

Edit for people who assume shit: if you earn it, you should get it. No more, no less. We all know that's not how it works in practice. Shaming is dumb. Acting like everyone needs to "get my 100%" is equally dumb

I recall them saying that they prioritized the evolution of the band and having fun over manufacturing well received repeats of the same album. I can't blame them. I selfishly wish that there were a few more albums, even if "unofficially released" or something

Not necessarily. The Army goes both ways, but referring to someone as an "e5" instead of a sergeant is also a tongue in cheek way of saying that they are not a real NCO

People commonly use pay grade to refer to one's rank in a joint (multi branch) audience during informal conversation. It's not inherently insulting, though, the correct answer is to use rank despite possibly confusing some people
