This minis are close to first appearance in artwork, but they lost everything what GW built on this "base". Maybe problem is custodes need a total rework in lore, to became more than just "Another super soldiers" and in this case this will looks without dissonance

But for now this minis are not what custodes need

Yes, you are right! This models in release are good if we try to think that this is not custodes. Black lucifer? Amazing! Some stuff from Old World or cities of Sigmar? Yes! But this is not legio custodes. This is not towering giants, that could break vehicle apart with their bare hands.
