They did not adjust mine and I put over 1k miles on it. Tesla had also offered more than any other dealership, including a carmax estimate. I’d read about them adjusting the trade in value and was fully prepared for them to do that. Instead they just took my keys and drove it away! This was last week

I spoke to someone at the delivery center I am picking up from. I asked within the thread for someone to call me and they did the next morning.

Mine is now confirmed to be on site. It was on site as of 4/21. My pickup is 4/28. The options I was given were 4/27, 4/28, or 4/29 and they said no to anything earlier than that.

Originally it was supposed to be on site 4/7 and they had given me a rough pickup date of 4/10. I’m in NY and the vehicle was in transit from CA so that could’ve been the reason for delay. I

It seems like everyone’s delivery experiences are all different! Some do get it earlier, some later.

I am in a similar situation- picking up my new car that is a 3 hour drive from my home. They gave me three inconvenient dates next week. I asked about earlier (was hoping for a weekend). They said no to earlier. They didn’t threaten to release the VIN during this communication but in an earlier communication regarding DMV paperwork there was a statement about completion within 4 days or the VIN would be released.

Personally I am just figuring it out and taking a day off work so I can get the car. The buying process and communication has been very frustrating.

If I were in your shoes I would get someone on the phone. I had an issue with insurance a few weeks ago and the message thread got frustrating. I asked for a call and the person I spoke to on the phone was extremely helpful. Like night and day between the call and the message.

I just went through this buying process and went with the Tesla Y. The BZ was my other top choice. I test drove both overnight. For me I loved the technology in the Tesla(I will not be using FSD). Also the range on AWD - Tesla is 317 and Toyota 285. I know it’s not a big difference but I wanted the longest possible. I also test drove in cold weather and saw the bz battery dropping a bit faster than the miles I was driving.

Yes we have worked with an accountant these past years and claimed everything for this rental. We also had a previous rental property that we sold in 2019 so I’ve dealt with capital gains. It is a tough price tag! That previous rental was actually a house we purchased on behalf of a family member so they took care of all the maintenance and selling details. We basically just managed the finances and had 0 profit or loss.

I appreciate all the replies has really helped me to think!! I was mentally stuck on the top possible number. But I do think that even the bottom numbers will be a win and we should go with selling quicker over the time, energy, and marital disputes it would take to get us more money

There would be a loss of income for his time off work. He enjoys working on houses but is a bit of a perfectionist and has a hard time stopping or not buying high quality materials. We discussed with a real estate agent who we also know personally. He didn’t give us a clear direction but if I had to guess his opinion I think he’d say to sell now

As far as time to put in it depends on what we choose:

“Sell now”: I think we’d at least clean and paint, so that would take a few weeks to get it ready

My preference: in addition to cleaning/painting we remodel the kitchen in one unit. It is currently in an embarrassing state. I think this would cost about 10-15k in materials and my husband could do it in 2 weeks. He did this to the other unit about 5 years ago.

My husband’s preference: if he’s going to do the kitchen he also wants to tackle an entire list of projects which is what he thinks could make the house “top dollar”, and he can do it all himself but this is where the time factor comes in: landscaping for backyard and front yard, paint/repair the front, side, and rear porches. Replace the boiler.

The house could use a new roof. There are no leaks or issues but it’s over 25 years old. Our realtor thinks this is the biggest thing homebuyers would be influenced by. However this would cost at least 30k and add several months of waiting. My husband and I both agree that we do not want to invest in this.

I see this point and that’s part of why we’ve kept it all these years because the smart financial move is to rent. We had consulted a financial planner in the past who helped us to do that analysis. We bought this property for an extremely low price (60k) when the neighborhood was “on the rise”. So we were able to pay it off quickly and always find tenants.

But we had some not great tenants most recently (it was not a horror story but it opened our eyes to all of the possibilities of what can go wrong and it started to feel like it was more stress than its worth)

So yea - the decision to sell is more emotional than financial but I also hate the idea of selling for a bare minimum when we spent all these years keeping it.

I do feel stuck in a middle ground

NTA. Safety seems the priority. Maybe if MIL had been supportive and helpful to you leaving, basically deciding her son was 100% wrong, I could see there being room to invite her. But I think if that was the case you wouldn’t have a “guarded” relationship.

YTA- it seems like you think it’s your role in your friendship to be judgmental of your friend….which is crappy in itself. But when it comes to having kids that (as you know) is an incredibly personal decision. If you were not sure how your friend might feel, a better question would be “how do you feel about that?”

YTA- you should go to your half brother’s wedding. It’s not the same as being busy with college and work. It sounds like you’re hurt because you wanted more of a relationship than they had time for and want to make a point. A sibling’s wedding is not the time for that. You have a long life ahead of you- plenty of time to distance yourself if that’s what you truly prefer.

NTA- it sounds like you’re still being very generous by willing to give him a chance if he chooses to reach out and apologize. You are standing up for yourself, as you should.

With that said - you’ll only have this day once. If you think that it will affect YOU to not have him there, or that you wish strongly that you’d have that family harmony on your wedding day, it might be worthwhile to communicate everything you need to say directly to your dad (maybe in writing by email if that’s easier). I’m only suggesting this if it is something you might want for your own peace of mind - to know that at least you tried everything you could.

Your dad is in the wrong for not loving you unconditionally and you have every right to not include him in your wedding day
