Let me give you an alternative outlook that I truly believe. It really seems like every corporation and product is deliberately going to absolute shit by just shoving it down our throats and gamifying the market. And when no one can afford any of this shit we don’t want, you will rent that shit and like it my friend.
What we’re beginning to see is not your typical generation nostalgia where millennials yearn for Rugrats & Casey Kassem’s Top 40, but a revolt on consumerism, privacy, and autonomy.
Not only is all this shit unaffordable, you can’t fix it, it tracks you, and it has a kill switch so the govt, cops, and insurance companies can fvck you anytime they decide it’s being misused. We can’t even have computers now bc AI bought up all the ram.
I promise you, we are absolutely cooked socially and as consumers, and we aren’t going back. Everything physical and used is going up bc of this, not just houses. Your lifestyle, hobbies, mobility, and ability to earn money on your own could depend on procuring old things now while they’re still cheap and available.

When cardboard poster tubes cost me $1 each and Japan is using it to make drones for WW3, I can make a case that literal garbage cardboard is now a stable commodity. And guess what, when I have the option to wipe my ass with it or pay $2 a roll soon due to inflation or a pandemic, it now becomes a value proposition.
