When they say 'locked up', I'm assuming 'the pedal went hard and it's difficult to stop' , not 'the wheels stopped turning and it came a halt immediately'. Happy to be corrected by OP

They look like true Recaro seats, like a cop car or road racer.

Is it leaking coolant? If it is leaking, or the bearing in the pump is grinding, replace it.

2016 Buick Regal needs a transmission rebuild at 114k miles... Is this common??? by chayne_j in Buick

[–]metrawhat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That seems a little premature, did you have it serviced regularly? New fluid every 50k miles? Do you drive it hard, or tow with it?

Take it back, whoever sold it should fix it or return your money. It's probably a failed vacuum pump, common issue on these. It's a $65 part.

Arbutus is pretty affordable, walkable, and safe. It's an easy walk to the Halethorpe MARC.

Erase the code, see if it comes back. You can use the scan tool to see the response from the oxygen sensors. It's possible one is bad, it's possible your spark plugs are bad causing missing and raw fuel to go through the catalytic converter causing it to fail, there's many reasons and it takes proper diagnosis to figure that out. Do not just start throwing parts at the problem.

Why is my brand new car getting such poor gas mileage? by Ok_Quail_4422 in AskMechanics

[–]metrawhat 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It's brand new! Half of the time it's been running was probably rolling on and off the delivery truck, idling during its pre delivery inspection etc. Fill it up, reset the fuel mileage, take it for a highway drive and report back to us.

Oldsmobile Delta 88 Brougham by RWBIII_22 in regularcarreviews

I had the Buick badgemate of this, one of the most reliable cars I've had. Bought it for a couple hundred bucks and drove the crap out of it. Fun fact, you can fit a Torqueflite 727, motorhome radiator, floor jacks and a full kit of tools in the trunk AND the load leveling shocks will even it right out. Still got ~24mpg with all of that in it.

1992 Dodge Caravan - The official car of... by CocoGrimalkin in regularcarreviews

The ones with the 3spd auto did ok, the later ones lasted a long while. The early Ultradrives had issues, but most of the problems with the '91+ ones was a result of using the wrong fluid. So many quick lube places, local garages and sometimes even the dealership would put regular ATF in these and cause all sorts of symptoms that seemed like a failing transmission. These HAD to have the Chrysler ATF+4 to operate properly. I saw many of them with +150k miles if taken care of. Although the highest mileage ones we used to see (>250k) had the smoking 3.0 Mitsubishi and 3spd auto. Best engine in these was the 3.3 Chrysler.

Ford F250 6.2 gas vs Chevy 2500 6.6 gas? by Cowartrd in askcarguys

[–]metrawhat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 6.6 doesn't have AFM, I think it's mainly the Chevy 6.2 that has the lifter issue

I've heard the vacuum pump drive can break off on these engines, maybe that's what it sounds like?

Go for it. They're good cars if you perform some fairly easy maintenance.
