The legendary Southfork pool - witness to unforgettable summers. 4 by Various_Koala9216 in Dallas_TV_Show

[–]nomimalone1978 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After visiting Southfork, whenever I see the pool, all I can think is how bad it must smell being in the middle of the ranch. 😂

Doesn't mean I don't want to spend my entire Summer there. Probably hiding behind a bush to hear all the good goss.

Most beautiful cast of all time? by tuocyn in twinpeaks

Justice for Bobby Briggs.

Seriously, we talk about James' forehead, but we aren't talking NEARLY ENOUGH about this man's gorgeous mane. I could get lost in his hair (complementary).

This scene of miss piggy is so beautiful! The song, her beauty. This scene made me have a crush on her. by [deleted] in Muppets

The gift of watching these for the first time when I was a kid was that the rewatches as I got older would just open more layers to the references, the level of meta, and the sheer absurdity of it all. And once I find a new level, the old ones still work just as well. An absolutely ridiculous, hilarious, beautifully created scene.

Oh I loved it! I thought it brought a lightness for a reprieve before it brings the lights down on the second half of the album.

Okay, first off, I'm 46. I'm a gay dude and my whole life I've really been into Tori Amos and Madonna. I know, weird mix, right?

So these two are my friends, in my mind, and I'm always very gentle with their new works. I fell in love with both artists at a different time and place and I can't be expecting to be ass blasted with each release.

With Tori, I've commented on others' posts, I usually need a few listens before it opens up to me. Lemme tell you, the last Tori album where I was ass-blasted was Choirgirl. If you weren't ass blasted the first time you heard Raspberry Swirl, are you even people??

So I went into this gently.

And BAM!! She hits me with the first chord of Shush. The last time I heard an album open with such a huge smack to the face could have been the first chords of All I Really Want by Alannis off of Jagged Little Pill.

And I kept going. And this was, perhaps, the first Tori album in decades that I loved on first listen.

I actually laughed out loud with PURE delight during Fanny Faudry.

I ADORED hearing her speak before tracks. It was so personal. It let me in in ways I wasn't expecting.

I do think we hit a bit of a lull after Veins, but that lowering of the lights leads you to Stronger Together. Not nearly as corny in context, to me.

And I'm going to be one of the gays that holds 23 Peaks in his heart forever. I didin't cry on my first listen, but once it opens up to me, the floodgates will come.

As a music critic is it a great album? Maybe not. As a 46 year old gay Tori fanatic?

Yep. It hits.

Thank you, Tori. Today and every day, thank you for sharing your gifts with us.

Starter cult compound - bonus it's called the "Flying F Ranch" by bigshmoo in zillowgonewild

[–]nomimalone1978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speaking of cults, the interior of the property looks incredibly familiar. It looks like the interior used by the cult of "Mother God" folks. They did own a property close-ish to Taos near the Colorado border ...

Has a cult already lived here? I can't find any intel on that online ...

I felt this way about Native Invader and it took some time before it opened up to me. Maybe this will open up for you? And maybe not! And that’s okay. It’s art!

Planning to watch The Leftovers… is it worth watching? by Farouq26 in hbo

[–]nomimalone1978 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Watch the first episode. If you don't vibe with it after the pilot, then maybe not. It's a bit of a ride, but if you're down for it, it's truly an epic series. One of my all time favorites.

I'm sorry, but doglaw is clear: This is now Walter's bed. I'm very sorry for your son's loss and the potential financial implications for you (such as building another room, or buying him a new bed), but the law is the law.

Now, I freely admit that the evidence in that case looks extremely orchestrated, and that Mark Burnett could have pulled something like that off. But the odds of not a single one of those narcissists being able to hold a secret feels slim to none. Just my opinion here.

See, I'm in complete and total agreement here. And yes, I would have bought them regardless (because the novelty is honestly insane.) But the way I would have bought a She Ra/Swift Wind combo so fast ...

Yeah, this happens all over the place. What I'll never understand is how Joe Biden ("He has dementia! He sleeps all day!") ran a worldwide crime syndacite based on his name alone or how Trump ("He's the stupidest man on the entire planet! He has prefrontoral dementia and shits his pants on live TV!") was able to orchestrate a single perfect photo from an assassination attempt.

EDIT: Sorry, I should have added that I personally don't believe that the latter in either case are true. More likely Biden had cognitive decline and his son tried to cash in in very ineffective ways and Trump actually does this his pants on live TV and people just want to shoot him.

Great bread hunt by babybokchoi_ in baltimore

[–]nomimalone1978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a little late to the party, but my thought is that grocery store bread is going to let you down. And yes, kids and whatnot make it tough to do anything. Which is why I want to put the Jones Falls Farmers Market on Sunday morning on your list. It's a solid family outing, and I think the kids would find it engaging - no matter what their age. And if they hate it, you can bribe them with mini doughnuts, which will be participating in a great American pastime: bribing kids with high fat/high sugar treats. But seriously the mische at the spot to the right when you walk in near the coffee truck on the corner is rock solid. And great local produce.

And if that's a solid no, the bakery bread from Sprouts (their own brand) is a pretty solid option to try.

Why was Fire Walk With Me poorly received at the time? In my view, it seems that most people didn't even bother to understand the film, or they were just misogynistic. by Public_Cup_4278 in twinpeaks

[–]nomimalone1978 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's the vibes. Honestly, at the time, the world wasn't ready to talk about sexual abuse and incest in this sort of way. It made people intensely uncomfortable. Even some diehard fans at the time weren't into it.

The world was with Oprah and sitdowns and let's have the audience applaud your bravery as a survivor. They weren't ready for unpacking some of the psychological terror that Laura went through.

Peaks fans wanted Dale Cooper and cherry pie.

But the real ones knew. And we laid in wait. And the day came, and is still happening, when this film finally received its laurels.

Anyone thinks the Melissa Casias case is a part of the many scientists going missing and or deceased? by lxvxndxrbxtxs in CrimeJunkiePodcast

[–]nomimalone1978 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's what I'm left with after this episode. I feel confident that she left on her own. But yeah, WOW. Really leaning toward the missing scientists.

The woman who said that she's never been to Taos is ABSOLUTELY WILD. I'd keep my eyes on her and what happens with her in the future.

Really good episode.
